This is the worst company ever.  http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1329505/
see my thread.  When you order they call you next day and try to sell upgrades. They charge your credit card and impossible to get a refund from. Charge back can be difficult as the banks allow 30 days for shipping.  You will be sorry. Their customer service is just one guy named Larry or Lawerence.  Go to Yelp and search Abe's of Maine in New Jersey. You will find all 2 star ratings. Don't believe me call their 1800 number and select status not sales.  You will be on hold forever.

I hope fatwallet disconnect all ties from them.

I had a similarly poor experience with Abe's. Bought an SL1 and didn't realize it was an Import model. They called the next day to upsell me on lenses and informed me that I bought an import model which was inferior in a few ways (forgotten specifics). ~$60 more got me the regular model, so despite my frustration with their tactics I went ahead with it out of convenience. Well they over charged me and I had to call to get a refund. I'm a bit fuzzy on the exact amounts and details but can say with certainty that the process was miserable and it made me feel abused.

Note that the t3i linked to in OP is an import model. Ottomh I don't know the difference, but do your homework on it.

Import model means no canon USA warranty. Also Abe's is NOT an authorized canon dealer.
Following are some:
Adorama
J&R
B&H
beach camera
buydig
I have bought L lenses from all of above with no issues at all.

Since when are you concerned with authorized Canon dealers, lol.

Ah yes - the warranty was one issue.  I believe Abes also told me that there was another difference - maybe a weaker battery?  Bad source of that info but worth verifying if you're going to hop on this one.  I believe the body of the camera is identical.

i used to work for an authorized cannon retailer, it's been about 7 years back, but the policy was to exchange, under warranty cameras after canon approved it, there was a process we had to follow, but it resulted in a lot of happy customers, no laborious repair and shipping BS for us or the customer, everything went back to cannon, customer go a new item out of our inventory.

They also say the video out is not NTSC and it is PAL. There are differences in the software as well.

Like others, I've had bad experiences with Abe's.
I would order a camera, then get a call trying to upsell a different camera and usually off brand lenses.
I'd say no, just want the camera, then they would say it is grey market and no warranty. If I said I was still okay with it, they would then say it
is backordered and don't know when it will be back in stock.

There are a couple others companies with the same business model. Probably run by the same people.

Adorama & B&H are good legitimate companies to deal with.

yeah, I'm going to have to pass on this one

If you do feel compelled to order from Abe's be sure to use a credit card so that you have an intermediary that you can use to dispute the charges. Paying with a debit card or check does not offer you the same protection. Good luck.

The camera's hardware and firmware are identical between the USA and import editions.  You may find the import version set to PAL but it can be changed to NTSC.
