This is definately the way to go.
Sit on my butt @ the computer and place the order, using the coupon. Drive to store where they have already pulled the products from stock and have them waiting for me. Sign one sheet of paper and leave. Note: The price shown in the store will not reflect the coupon. The credit card charge will however. Cuss loudly & frequently as I hurt myself while repairing/maintaining our vehicles with the AAP parts.
I hate these types of threads, people don't keep them up and it discourages people from posting individual good deals for the stores where we have coupon threads.

Fantastic, just got $40 off a $165 battery (ouch...yes, a full three-year replacement period, but OUCH)
Not even sure my current battery is truly ruined, so I can take it in tonight, have them test it, and decide whether to collect my new battery or simply get a refund at that point. Had I not seen this thread, I would have just walked in tonight and paid full price.

All of these awesome AAP coupons are valid for online orders only, but like Logician1313 said, you can just do an in-store pickup. The only AAP in-store coupon that I know of is the $5 off $20 coupon in the Entertainment Books. Also, I don't know if all their stores do it, but my local AAP gives a 10% military discount if you ask and have a military ID.

Good advice...it's always worth a phone call if your item is particularly critical. Ask them to put their hands on it.

I think their website's inventory of what's available in-store is actually accurate. I think the problem occurs when they fail to "pull" your online order in a timely manner and sell the last item.

Very nice. Picked up a code scanner and a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment for $37 before tax. Be careful to enter LC and not LS, as LS123 takes off only $20.
I have ordered online and done the store pickup thing several times. Be advised my store does not pull your order until you arrive. Don't wait too long to pick up your order.
