My father-in-law has these and they are awesome! He cooks a ton and is quite messy, so these help out a great deal

I recommend using metal ones so it won't get damaged when a hot pan/pot touches it. These are great - better than having a big gap where food falls in and can't be retrieved. Check Sear, HD, Lowes, kitchen supply stores, etc as a metal one is only a few bucks more.

Great

yeah got one of these from HD, it's kinda useless since it's not affixed and thus kept getting moved around by anything touching it. we fed up with it and returned it. and that was a metal one, i imagine the plastic kind will be so much worse.

I have a metal one on each side of the stove and absolute LOVE them.  It has been at least a yr since I bought mine.  The ones I have don't move around much.  Under the metal surface, there is a perpendicular strip built in that goes into the gap -  that keeps it from sliding and moving around.   It's not affixed so you can just lift it away and clean if needed.  Still crumbs and liquids are kept from getting into that space (unless it's a massive liquid spill, I suppose).

I remember buying the 1st one at Sears for 7.99 (had to order online).  Then the 2nd on clearance for 2.99 at Lowes.  I think it's a great $11 spent vs the frustration of worrying about that gap all the time - for me at least.
