I realize this doesn't help anyone now, but it could the next time BJ's offers such a cpn. Was able to use the $10 cpn on a $100 GC no problem. On top that, rinsed / repeated the deal to effectively buy a 2nd GC for another $10 off. Here's what actually happened:

1) Upon arrival, purchased a $100 GC using $10 cpn (so paid $90 of "real" money)
2) Proceeded to do some shopping @ BJ's. Grabbed about $50 worth of stuff.
3) During checkout, added a $50 GC to my $50 worth of stuff so that my purchase total was $100
4) Cashier applied the $10 GC to my purchase, so owed $90
5) Paid $90 balance w/ $100 GC from step #1

So I ended up paying $90 of "real" money (in step #1) and got:

  • $50 worth of stuff (step #2)
  • A $50 GC (step #3)
  • A GC w/ a $10 remaining balance (steps #1 and #5 above)

Probably could have rinsed/repeated just w/ GC's (buying a $110 GC on the 2nd purchase, using the $10 cpn + $100 GC from 1st purchase to pay for 2nd GC), but that could have raised eyebrows. Am content w/ paying $90 for $110 total value (i.e. $50 worth of stuff + $60 in remaining GCs).

That's an interesting trick. I'll have to remember that for the next time around! Did you go in with two printouts?
