Smithfield, Virginia: Ham Capital of the World on Historic Riverfront

Located west of Hampton Roads, Smithfield has been called the Ham Capital of the World for its Smithfield ham, a country ham cured with dry salt and aged for a minimum of six months. It’s been a staple of the town for centuries, and you can try it at the several markets and restaurants that lie within walking distance of Smithfield Station.
