Drive Through the Irish Countryside and Stay in Quaint Villages

Days 1–2: Killenard

Must-see attraction: Killenard is surrounded by horseracing tracks, including the Curragh Racecourse, which hosts the Irish Derby and other classic horse races from May–October.
Stroll like a local: Many of Killenard’s neighboring villages have well-marked hiking trails that take you through the Irish countryside. The town of Stradbally, about 20 minutes south of the hotel, connects to six forest trails ranging from 2–12 kilometers.
Hotel amenities: The 18-hole golf course at Heritage Golf & Spa Resort was rated one of the Top 10 parkland courses in Ireland by Golf Digest.

Days 3–4: Kinsale

Must-see attraction: Life in Kinsale revolves around the harbor, which you can explore on a harbor cruise. Yachting and fishing are particularly popular activities in town.
Eat like a local: Kinsale is widely recognized as the Gourmet Capital of Ireland. Pull up a chair at Fishy Fishy Cafe for local oysters and pan-roasted cod.
Hotel amenities: Actons of Kinsale, built in 1946 and renovated in 2012, features an indoor swimming pool and sauna, Irish restaurant, and nice views of the harbor.

Days 5–6: Adare

Must-see attraction: Built in the early 13th century on the banks of the River Maigue, Desmond Castle was an important fortress for hundreds of years. Tours of the castle run from June 1–September 30.
Dance like a local: There are many bars in Adare that host live traditional Irish music most nights of the week.
Hotel amenities: You can get a body treatment with multi-colored mud inside a rasul, or Turkish steam room, in the onsite spa at Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel.

Days 7–8: Dublin

Must-see attraction: The Book of Kells, a 9th-century religious manuscript known for its extravagant illustrations, is on display at Trinity College Library (the largest library in Ireland).
Drink like a local: Grab a pint of locally brewed Guinness at one of the city’s nearly 1,000 pubs. The dry stout beer has been brewed at St. James’s Gate Brewery since 1759.
Hotel amenities: Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel’s 20-meter pool and Scandinavian wood sauna and steam room are good spots to relax after a day of sightseeing.
