I use this stuff every year and swear by it. This year, I bought it when it was on sale at this price but forgot to apply it. I had ants everywhere. After two weeks of attacking the ants with Torro ant killer (which is a great product btw). I finally made time to go around the outter and inner permiter of my home with the Ortho home defense and I havent seen an ant since. Also sprayed it around our outdoor furniture. Had a black widow problem and now their all gone.

Id easily pay 20 dollars for this stuff. Cant believe its only 5 bucks. The battery operated sprayer itself is worth more than 5 dollars.

Btw , this is not the version with the battery operated sprayer , this only has a typical finger trigger sprayer .

Yup, I hope ConanTheSavage kept the sprayer from last time so he can just refill it from these.

Good stuff, if I remember to spray the outside perimeter in the spring then I won't have ants all year.

If you really want to save some money then buy the chemical in concentrate and mix yourself.

This is what I am using right now...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IMIPF4

1/2 a ounce to 1 gallon makes a stronger solution than the store stuff but at a lower cost. So it can make 64gallons for less than $30.

If you have a very small place and not much pest problem then the store stiff like the OP posted will work fine. But I have a decent size yard so its not feasible to use the store stuff as it cost to much and to weak to last for my needs.

Thank you, Marlin1975. I was actually wondering if the same stuff could be bought in an inexpensive concentrate.

Ortho Home Defense Max is .05% bifenthrin. The linked concentrate is 25.1% bifenthrin -- 500x as strong. That's equivalent to 125 gallons of Ortho Home Defense Max.

I use less than a gallon per year. Assuming the other ingredients in the Ortho product are completely meaningless (any thoughts on that?), I could buy this once, apply twice as often, and leave the rest in my will. LOL! It would be more than a double lifetime supply for me unless medical science makes some seriously unexpected strides or I buy a much bigger house with a much worse pest problem. The only problem would be a sprayer for applying it. Decent ones are expensive, but I bet I could get 5-10 years out of the ones that Ortho includes. I just have to keep them in the shed instead of letting them rot out in the sunlight.

Thanks OP!

Great deal on both products but I'm not sure Bifen XTS should be used inside(?).

I've been battling fire ants here, they're monsters.

I spray this crap directly in the ant, and watch them run around like normal. Now I have ants everywhere. Work on other bug thiugh

Sounds like you may have been over exposed to this stuff

Anyone else have problems with the tolerance issue? I once swore by this stuff, but I've moved on to dinotefuran (in HotShot ultraClear Roach and Ant Gel Bait) which works awesome for me (for now, anyways).

The XTS is a oil base so no its best for outdoors or places where a smell for a little time is ok. There is a pure water base that can be used inside and does not smell like the stronger one. Its also at Amazon.

Might as well tack on 4% back at Home Depot through Ebates.  Good deal OP.
