Agree - the NiCD would loose half it's charge within a month - but that's the nature of them. So hard to keep a fully charged battery prior to starting a job. The LiON ones however hold their charge for months so they'll only get recharged if they start to run out. Have them for a couple of years now (bought a drill and two batteries cause it was cheaper than two batteries by themselves after the NiCD had died).
infinitemonkeys said: The price of a single replacement battery at HD is $39, so for the price of two batteries, you get the drill and charger thrown in. Try using a 10% coupon from Lowes for better deal. Lowes doesn't sell ryobi. I bought a Ryobi 5 tool combo from HomeDepot.com . went to the store to take a look before delivery. It was very cheap compared to other makers. alot of plastic where others are steel. So I cancelled the ordered. Got some Hitachi tools from Lowes.
If you are not in a hurry, wait for BF. HD had this drill along with an impact driver for $99 last year. Overall, the drill is just OK. Impact driver is pretty decent. I purchased 2 set and used it quite a bit with no problem.
I use the impact driver more than the drill. It is nice to have both when working on projects where pre-drilling is necessary. Impact driver works well for driving long deck screws but make sure you use good bit. Cheap philips head will break using it on the impact driver.
