FWIW -- The Jos. A. Bank business model never ceases to amaze me. Why would anyone ever pay full price at this store, given their almost daily sales? I wear a suit to work each day, and am a pretty frequent JAB customer, but I would feel like a chump if I ever paid their full retail price.

Agreed. It seems like everything I buy either ends up as 1/2 off or B1G1 free on a regular basis.
I couldn't get anything to even add to the cart on the website. I went ahead and called in and placed the order. They were able to process it, but the email confirmation I got for the four suits I ordered had them ALL on backorder until 1/17/14. Not holding my breath, but hopefully they will make it here!

I have noticed that merch I order on-line isn't always fulfilled by JAB central warehouse. I have received many packages that seem they were mailed from a retail location. Makes me think that online orders are checked against retail inventory, and may sometimes be filled from the store.
Quick question: what is the situation about buying online and having it tailored in-store? Are alterations included? Googling lead me to believe simple alterations may be free but it's YMMV based on store location?

No issues with buying online and getting it tailored in store. However, officially it is not free. There is a charge for any alterations being done.
The stuff that I've seen from JAB is complete "Chinese" junk. (Not sure where it's truly made.) The last time I bought something from them, after one wash it was such a mess I donated it immediately to Goodwill. They used to be a higher-end retailer but clearly any attention to quality is not in their interest.
I bought a ton of outerwear for the men in my family 3 years ago. After sale prices and coupons and discounts, each came to under $31 each. The regular price was $595. To put it in perspective, if we had seen them in person before buying them, we would have gladly paid $100 each. Needless to say, we kept all the "extras" we had bought which we were going to return after checking them out. Three winters later, they still look good as new.
