IMO, this is way too small to overcome the heat of a  hot room

Kmart does not make the item
Lowes also has them maybe a PM opportunity if Kmart is not liked.

If a room is hot, 5000 btu will not cool it down very quickly if at all.

All I can read is what is written....

I have bought dozens of the money maker
Verizon u365 prepaids from Kmart on line for delivery and online order with store pick up.
Limits per order applied bu no limit to the number of orders.
They did once send me some sheets instead of the phones, they quickly eMailed me a return label and fixed the error.

It all depends on the size of the room. This is just for small rooms.

Yes, as they all are rated that way.
However, trust me, the 5k model will not cool down a hot room it is designated as being able to do.....
None will really in the real world cool down a HOT room as it size says it is designated to do...
Always buy from where you can return it after being used.....

Its kind of regular price, not a best deal worthy. I have one Haier 5000 BTU installed in my ~170 sft room, it does its job pretty good. I paid $89 and some change last year from WM

The regular price for manual control 5000BTU ACs is in the $90-$100 range. I think most people today want auto temp controlled ACs, which will add $40-$50 to the price.

A hot room is not gong to be cooled down and maintained by the 5k unit.
I am speaking of rooms that will be 90 plus degrees when you turn the ac o n....

I find my 5K BTU window AC to cool a room just fine from 87 degrees (in the middle of the afternoon and sun beaming in with no wind or door open) to 75 degrees as stated on a fan's thermostat, fairly quickly and keep it there. This is with 70-80% humidity. You just have to know what you're buying. I agree that 5K BTU can be quickly overcome by a hot room for those who buy an undersized AC or do not have an adequately insulated room.

I'm with yesidonoitall, 5k BTU isn't going to do the job, get a 10k BTU unit and save yourself some trouble.

arent most 10k BTU ACs usually 220v?

that can be an issue for some folks, especially renters....fwiw

Thank you! I had $20 in Shop Your Way Surprise points, so with tax it was $82. I had a gift card so out of pocket was closer to $30. Yes, a 5000 BTU AC isn't going to cool a large room or a whole house. But for a small bedroom it will do the trick.

cool, thanks for the info....

seems like that would be drawing a lot of amps, but YMMV

i had a 5000 BTU GE that was awesome, and 5000 BTU off-brand (dont remember which one) that seemed to barely keep up in one of our rooms...

i will roll the dice with this frigidaire and give an update, if anyone is interested

I replaced my living room ac which used 220 volts, with a large 115 volt model using one side of the dedicated 220 volt circuit.
For the bedroom I ran a new circuit for it.
Overheating of wiring can be very dangerous....

exactly, a dedicated circuit is the way to go, but for those that are renting and are unable to run their own circuits, these 5000 BTU units are a good option...

they dont draw so many amps, so you can still have some other electricity used without popping the breakers...

YMMV
