While this is certainly a good deal, where I live 5000 BTU's just won't cut it. It is hot, humid and hot. It takes at least a 15,000 BTU wall unit to cool a 150 sq ft. room to comfortable levels in a reasonable amount of time.
Did I mention its hot where I live? (Highs at or near 100 degrees F and lows around 75 degrees F and humidity above 60%)

Cools up to a 150 sq ft room. Effortless clean antibacterial filter reduces bacteria, room odors, and other airborne particles for a cool and comfortable environment. Features 2 different fan speeds, for more cooling flexibility. Effortless restart automatically resumes operating at its previous settings when the power is restored to your unit. Comes with an extra long three-prong cord. Optional side panels extend so you can adjust the unit to fit your window. Mechanical controls.

I have a 5,000 BTU Frigidaire, and it works perfectly to cool my poorly insulated upstairs room to very chilly temperatures. Without any sort of a/c the upstairs can get well over 100 in the summer even if it's only 80 outside. This is easily able to cut through the heat and keep both myself and my electronics comfortable.

Not all air conditioners are created equal. Frigidaire is the best 5000 btu unit out there.
Having said that, a lot of factors go into finding the appropriate match between the room and the air conditioner. The size of the room and the ambient temperature are just a part of it. Google for factors.

One important thing to note where people make mistakes. There IS such a thing as too much power. If the room gets cooled too quickly, the unit will cycle off without reducing the humidity by much. You will find yourself sitting in a cold and clammy room.

This is not really a hot deal. Its regular price minus a coupon that is good for anything at Lowes.

The point about humidity is exactly why it's often more energy efficient to run an A/C unit continuously, given the proper conditions, than it is to set the thermostat on auto, and it's also why a dehumidifier acting independently of the thermostat and central system can increase efficient cooling and room comfort dramatically (and more energy efficiently).
