- Snake oil - a 2 port HDMI switcher - a gadget that strips HDCP?
If it's either (or both) of the latter two, it may be interesting... While it might do the latter two, it's primary purpose is most certainly snake oil. It reminds me of many devices I used to read about in the DAK catalog when I was a kid. There's no way this does anything beyond what the TV's controls can do. It's like some device that magically "enhances" bass response. It's just not possible to compensate for poor speakers, although it might trick you into thinking it is. Some might find it works well, but that's just because so many people are easily duped by over-bright and/or over-saturated TV pictures. All that said, since perception is reality, if this works for you, then go for it. And while you're at it, send me a PM, I have some Deer Antler Velvet to sell you to make you feel younger....

I'm guessing that somewhere in the specs or design that they're increasing the bit depth of the RGB signal to 36 bits (maybe). Of course, you can't get something from nothing (despite Law and Order's ability to do things like sharpen mosaic'ed JPG's to read license plate numbers from great distances
It appears, at the very least, that it is a 2 way HDMI switcher. The review citing incompatibility with a 3D TV suggests possible HDCP copy protection stripping, which would be of great interest to a subset of people. Indeed, this thing may be a thinly veiled piracy device, not unlike the marketing schemes of cable descramblers back in the DAK days of the 80's.
As far as the deer antler velvet, I'd take you up on it if you had it in it's spray form
Now, back to listening to my BSR dual tape deck. Drew's wordy review in my DAK catalog suggests that it's turning the speakers I obtained from the back of a van (the seller said they accidentally got an "extra" pair) into a set of Bose 901's...
If you don't get the rebate, which seems pretty likely, it's overpriced. Nëwegg is usually good about making sure that customers get the rebate, but they do it as a courtesy, not a requirement. If a couple thousand of these go out the door and the company refused to pay the rebate, I don't see Nëwegg footing a quarter million dollars of unpaid rebates to maintain customer satisfaction.

"Pretty likely".. based on what data ? I know it's not from this website, since the consensus on the threads have been Newegg rebates are quite reliable.
I though..will not try to dissuade you any further....since it just means more for the rest of us.

I have a feeling it's like all the other stuff they've had free-after-rebate lately: the company that owns the products doesn't want to rent shelf space in Newegg's warehouse anymore, but also doesn't want to pay to ship it back. Or worse, the company went out of business and can't pay their bill. Newegg then is released from their contract to pay the company the income they get from the sales. Newegg wants to clear their shelf space to make room for paying manufacturers. That's just my observation, though.
Oh, and green for VivYip - I was typing up a post early this morning, then saw you posted mere seconds before I. This is the first time I've ever seen an HDMI switch FAR.

I am always in fear that I accidentally repost due to timestamp. I don't know how you find the hardware FAR items. ^_^ I'm always grateful when you post them. (I'm hoping for a FAR scanner to show up...mine is borderline from y2k. ^_^)

Too funny, made me chuckle and smile... really forgot all about DAK.
Tempted to try, since it's free... even if it sucks. I always fight tooth and nail with rebates that may be problematic, and although it's say a 1% rate of not receiving a rebate, I've never failed. My point is not that "I'm the best", but rather that if I can fight them, so can you. You should always keep good documentation of what you've done (and scan/photocopy everything), and remember to set a calendar reminder to check after 8-12 weeks. Don't wait 6 months and then complain. In the fine print, you sometimes will see that if it's been over 6-months, you cannot dispute.
Now, to take the risk of wasting my time or not...

Yeah, it certainly might at that, especially if one has WMC and a cable company that adds protected flags to non-protected (broadcast) content. I've got WMC with FIOS, using a Ceton Quad Tuner. Do you think I could get the Playboy channel? Jk jk

RE: DAK I used to read about in the DAK catalog when I was a kid.
He sure did put a spin on everything he sold, it all seemed like you gotta have it.
I'll admit, I bought a 2.1 speaker set from DAK twenty-some years ago. But you know what, they were actually pretty good speakers. I still have them, in fact, and they remain in decent condition. I'm open to offers, PM me if anyone is interested.
I loved DAK in the 80's. Used to drive from San Diego to the San Fernando Valley to the (ready for this) DAK outlet store. As I recall, they sold all their returned items at really great prices. It was like a scavenger hunt. Lots of fun. Thanks for the memories.
