I think the power consumption is too high for a budget gaming rig. This is an overclocker's rig that may hit 5.3Ghz if paired well with RAM. As for future proof, it's hard to say that without PCIe 3.0.
Hard to argue the price on this, and the components are quality (ASUS mb, GSkill ram).
If you knock the components out of the equation, you wind up paying $270 for the CPU. Now, I will be the first to tell you that the FX9350 isn't in the same league as an i7 3930k. However, the cheapest I7 you will find is the 3770, at 289.99. In most of the benchmarks the 9350 out performs the 3770, however the power draw difference is fairly significant.
All this said, honestly, if I am dropping over $200 on a processor, I'll buy an intel. I use AMD for their price to performance ratio in my budget builds for friends and family, and for me that is where AMD shines. At this price point, I am building for the professional or the enthusiast both of which are better served by an Intel chip.
Still, a solid deal my preferences aside. Green for you OP.
