The code is not working for me. I got the Roku HD new from Best Buy the other day for $40 with tax. This refurb is only $5 more even without the code working. Is a refurb 2xs better than new HD? Do people have very many problems with refurb units?

The Roku 3 has a faster processor and more ram. So if you play the Roku games, use it a lot, have a LOT of channels then yea the roku3 is worth it.
If not then you will probably not notice the difference. I have a roku2 HD and moved it to my Sons room when I got my roku3. So if in doubt and/or new to Roku get the XS and then if you really like it upgrade to the Roku3 next year when a deal pops up and move the XS to another room.

Does Roku 3 offer enough advantages for this price difference I would take a Roku 2 XS over a Roku 3 at the same price -- no brainer at these prices. Check the linked image to compare features.
This is the very best Roku model. While the Roku 3′s processor improves response over previous models, I did not think this was a problem. Roku must agree since they reverted to the older processor for models released this September. R3 has a remote with an earphone plug, but I do not know why anyone would want that. If you are going to use headphones, you probably want to stream more than your Roku, right? The R3 removed composite connectivity. I’m very unhappy about this because I use the analog audio outs as audio input to my HTIB which allows me to listen to Pandora, Spotify, and other audio channels without running my 50″ plasma tv. With the extra controller ($25 and unavailable on the Roku site), and $40 less than the Roku 3, this is a no brainer!
