Give and Take

I agree with a lot of the points the other poster makes, but NN has some of the best prices for unique styles of one-piece swimsuits that I've ever found anywhere. In addition, you can search for coupon codes for % off (plus it'll stack with a free ship), AND 9 times out of 10 you'll still get cash-back going thru FW!
Customer service is almost non-existent; woe to the purchaser who needs to return any merchandise. A 2 month waiting period is the norm for processing a return from start to finish :-(

Horrible

by IOPSC on July 9th, 2010
1. Shipping charge of $16.99 for $63 order. According to their shipping chart, should have been $10.99, which was bad enough (shipping is based on dollar value of order). My order contained a BOGO item, and I am guessing that shipping was based on the order cost before calculating discount. Fortunately I had a free shipping code (L54).

2. Site is ridiculous to use - if you are looking for a specific type of item, there may be many, many places to find it, and it's easy to miss sale items.

3. On top of shipping, there is a $1.95 'handling fee' per order. Who does that?

4. Shopped with them in the 1990s...most of the clothes look about the same as I recall from back then! The only reason I placed this order was that I was stuck with a gift card for a prior merchandise return that they refused to give credit back on my credit card. Very poor customer service there, but that's another story.

5. After my last order, I was inundated with catalogs from their affiliated companies; cringing that this doesn't happen again.

6. Beware of pop-up that you will qualify for a free shipping rebate. Apparently you have to sign up for some "free shipping club," on whose Web site I couldn't locate anything about the cost of that membership.

7. When using a gift card, you still must supply a credit card, even if the total doesn't exceed the gift card amount. Why?

Not a good experience.

by springygirl on February 25th, 2012
You can't go by their size charts. The item I ordered was huge when I got it. By the size charts it should have been a little small. I had no UPS return label in my package (they said it should have been there). They wanted me to drive to a UPS store to get a label. Get real :( You can't exchange anything - you have to reorder. Shipping charges are high and customer service is practically nonexistent. I told them I wouldn't shop with them again.

Some Things NEVER Change

by Kellie312 on May 8th, 2011
I haven't shopped here in years, I used to ALOT back in the '90s. When I saw Newport News here on Fat Wallet, I thought I would give them another try after all this time. After reading the reviews, I've changed my mind about 'another try'. Some things never change. I can relate to each review with my own experiences from the past, and that is why I don't recommend shopping here.

Mom, I love you, but not enough to endure Newport News

by dg12345 on November 28th, 2010
The only thing this store has going for it is sexy models that somehow induce women to buy. There certainly isn't anything else it has going for it. Their website is horribly designed with a bad search engine. Their shipping is overpriced (although it can be mitigated to some extent with coupon offers.) Is this the last mail-order company that still charges shipping based on the amount you are spending at their store? Hey, thanks for all your business, now we gouge you!

Then, like another reviewer said, they smack you with another "handling" charge just to pour a little salt in. Don't plan on shopping here for just an item or two. My mom loves the clothes here so I usually endure the hassles of paying $50 for a $35 item when the holidays or her birthday comes around.

One last thing, every single order I have placed has ended up on backorder with no estimate when they'll get around to sending the items. They just show up one day in that thin plastic that gets the contents squished. This order is the last one. I'm done with this company.
