the manufacturer lists a feature as "cord/cordless operation yes" which is misleading and wrong. the product owner's manual verifies this contradiction stating "If you charge the trimmer with power switch turned on, it will start working when you remove from the AC adaptor."

this is my biggest pet peeve about these battery operated trimmers because they DO NOT run when plugged in to the charger. it's extremely annoying when you're half way thru shaving and the battery dies. So now you have to wait an unreasonbaly long time to charge it before you can even use it again because it doesn't work while charging! your only option is to charge it all the time or get a charger that actually runs when plugged in.
