The Craftsman 190cc Front Drive Self Propelled Mower delivers versatility and toughness with a value that might just have you thinking lawn care isn't so bad after all. With a 675 Gold Series Briggs & Stratton engine with 190cc's of power, there's no denying this Craftsman mower has the guts to cut down just about any length of grass in its path. No only is the engine potent, but it's easy to start, too, thanks to Ready Start™ and Smooth Start&trade. Ready Start is a system that eliminates the need for priming and choking the engine so all you have to do is pull, which is about 20 percent easier than on other lawn mowers thanks to Smooth Start. The mower pulls its own weight, too, as it cuts its way across your yard with a variable speed gear drive system on the front wheels so it moves at the speed you want it to move - effortlessly. There's no more need to lean into the handle with all your weight to mow up hills or through thick or wet grass which not only makes this Craftsman lawn mower more comfortable, but safer, too.
Even with all of those comfort features, this Craftsman 22 inch Self Propelled Mower gets the job done and done well. Four height positions on the 22 inch high performance deck help you get the ideal look and feel you want on your lawn. Not only do you get to choose how thick and luscious you want your grass, but how to dispose of it as well by bagging, mulching or discharging the clippings. The bagger door automatically stays open to make removing the bag even easier and simply closes with a squeeze of the control ball. Mulching delivers highly important nutrients back to your lawn without the cluttered look of leaving the clippings behind. With so many features on this versatile mower, the hardest thing you might do is put it away - and Craftsman even makes that easy thanks to its folding adjustable handle.
Featuring a 22-in. high-performance deck, the Craftsman 190cc Front Drive Self Propelled Mower offers excellent bagging, mulching or discharging

I don't have any experience with this mower as I just bought it but I did have a Craftsman riding lawn mower before and it performed great. Sears makes quality stuff, which is why I prefer to buy all my tools there.
As for Honda, I think they make good cars (I have one) but Briggs and Stratton is known for making the best small engines. This one has the most CCs I've seen at this price range. For $10 more you can get the same mower with bigger wheels in the back but when I went to the store it looked like the deck was tilted at an angle because the axles are still in the same place. I really don't know how much better handling you might get with bigger wheels in the back but if you ask me it isn't worth it if it keeps it from cutting evenly.
My Craftsman was ok. But the linkages kept rusting and breaking. I just decided to go with quality and got a Toro Super Recyler with a Briggs and Stratton from a full service shop. The shops have a step better quality than Home Depot. I haven't had to fix one thing in 4 years and in the summer my Bermuda gets cut twice a week and right now, cutting off the thatch, it's getting a workout.
But regardless, I thought i was a gimmick, but after using it, the Toro Personal Pace system is just totally awesome. Really really great. A super recycler is apples and oranges in price and probably quality with this mower, but go to Home Depot and check out the cheaper Toros with personal pace.
I bought this mower a week ago. Have not used it yet. I ordered online, but when I picked it up I asked the salesman would he rather have this mower or the Honda. He said they get the Honda back for repair all the time. Said the carbs are always messing up and it will not start. He said it is up to me, but he would get this one. He said if I do go with the honda to use only non ethanol gas and run the tank out every time I use it. Also the Honda is not variable speed.
I would stay away from front drive mowers, rear is better for many reasons. Easier on hills, when the bag gets full, and easier turning (how many times have you pushed down on the handle to make a tight turn?). As far as Honda vs BS, i currently have both and they both perform well. I did have one of the original Honda mowers, lasted about 20 years. Don't leave gas in over the winter and use premium, non ethanol, or use an additive to protect against ethanol damage.
This mower sux!. I have had a front wheel drive Lawnboy mower for 9 years and it has been great. No problems at all and the front wheels just work - never spin. This craftsman will not even pull itself unless you lift up on the handle to shift the weight to the front. The wheels just spin. I would not trade my 9 year old lawnboy for 2 of these craftsmans. I just hope they will take it back.
