Buyer beware, This DW came on not too long ago and I and a friend both have it. Worst DW ever. It will hardly clean already clean dishes. I say this having been a Whirlpool customer for years. Even if it cleaned well it is still a pitiful design. THe silverware drawer latch broke and I noticed the finish is coming off the buttons and the top rack seems a little wobbly. Might at least get buyer protection.
I also had this dishwasher and can say that I was NOT happy. Replaced it after just 7 months of use. It was worthless. I know this is not a review or ratings forum, but I want to warn anyone that is thinking this is a deal. It is cheap, but this is not a useful unit.
have to agree this is not good dishwasher. I have this now for 6 months and now it just doesnt clean well. I had tech came in looked at everything as i got the warranty. They finally said its just the dishwasher which after 6 months use lost its cleaning power. Had a low price diswasher before which ran well for 4 years. Dont buy this if you use dishwasher daily.
Nice deal, but a note about Whirlpool. We have a new dishwasher and the spray arm at the bottom (the arm that spins around and sprays out water) came off during a wash and melted on the heating element. Called Whirlpool and the telephone support was fair (I could not get the girl to understand what came off and melted). So they sent out a technician to diagnose the problem. This was 3 weeks ago. We are still waiting for the part to arrive to the warranty service company (At your Service in Kansas City, MO) for them to replace the part. Last week and this week, I call and get a status update and they admit they dont know what is going on with Whirlpool and parts lately, but they keep contacting them and get the "Part will be there ASAP" excuse.
I also would recommend a Bosch. My wife is a heavy user and we had a GE and a Kenmore and they were just not very good. They lasted only a few years. I bought a Bosch with a half stainless steel tub a few years ago on sale from HH Greg for $399 with a rebate for a free installation, which was worth another $75-100. This DW has worked very well. It has a nice internal heater and gets the water so hot you have to be careful because sometimes it melts the plastic crap my wife sticks in there to wash.I remember this purchase well because I had to track down a sales person to get assistance. The guy either knew nothing about DW or was just being a jerk, and I had to walk him thru the purchase, and he knew nothing about how to handle the free installation so that took another 45 minutes. My rebate came pretty quick though.
I was unhappy with our new dishwasher, not this one, then I chaned to cascade. Well, who knew? but it does matter which cleaner you use. try a different brand of cleaner. worked for me. I was livid and about to throw the dishwasher out of the window!
