easy to navigate and purchase, but difficult to obtain details on products if not specifically listed in the product descriptions. Chat support is quick but the information available to their people is insufficient.
Great shopping experience, Good selection
This is a review of the Store and not the products I purchased (Sony's products are generally very good, with the only down-side being their restrictive Digital Rights policies) They have a slick website with layers and layers of products to dig down into. The deals are pretyy good and if you have a Sony Rewards card like I do, well you get stuff for free!
Shipping was very quick.
The only frustration I had was with the product images... on many products there's only a fairly low-res image of the product front, and nothing else. *Tip:If you take the product number and search in Google Images you get a better selection of product images.
Did not like it
Perhaps, my expectations were too high. I bot a laptop online, and they sent it earlier than promised, and it was as advertised ...
But the whole experience was not enjoyable. I called them after I placed the order, and asked if it was possible to change the color, and they said "no". Once the order is placed, you cannot change anything, it is their policy. What kind of policy is that???
It takes them 2-3 weeks to ship the laptop, and then another week for it to arrive. Now, if I do decide to return it and get that pink one instead for my wife, I have to wait a month for it to arrive, then pay for shipping out of my pocket, and wait another month for the new one.
It just does not seem to be on par with their competitors, like Dell or Amazon, or Apple, that will really go out of their way to help the customer. I would say this is a kind of a de-facto standard in the online shopping industry, and Sony has clearly fallen behind.
