I must say that their new concept is making me happy. Dropping contracts in favor of month to month with no phone subsidies will hopefully cause phone prices to drop. Seriously, why does anyone want to be locked into an unnecessary contract. As part of this they are dropping termination fees (of course). Looking forward to Nexus 4 from Google or some other unlocked, non-contract phone. Discuss.

Micro-sims included.

Link to both

Weird timing. I found they were free because I was doing research due to bring sick of Straight Talk throttling.

I ordered two micro Sims. Did have to enter a credit card, but email said there would be no charge.

Wouldn't hurt to request them just to have them.

Does anyone know if T-Mobile will let a Galaxy Tab dial calls? I hear Straight Talk does.

rated:

In 4 one!
Thx!!

rated:

In for one, too. BTW, on chat, they couldn't answer whether tablet could dial calls, but their devices don't have the feature, so hopefully that means no filter like ATT. I'm going to test it with a new number and they said no fee to port later!

Sorry. We're having some problems with your order 26799731. It looks like our Payment Processor couldn't be reached or might be down. Please try again or contact us so we may assist you with this order.

Looks like I'm banned from ordering. I ordered a few back in Dec... ugh...

Just a FYI, the online activation system is half broken. You can't setup recurring payment when you activate, there is a bug in the webpage that has been there at least a couple of months. The phone will successfully activate in 3-4 days, at which point you can setup recurring payment. The website doesn't tell you this, nor will the people on the phone (they'll just know that your activation code was used, not that the activation is actually being performed), but it does work. Just be patient and wait for your phone to receive the text that is has activated and that you need to add funds. Once that happens you can setup payment.

can a postpaid user get benefitted (w/o breaking the contract) by activating this prepaid card and moving to this rate plan?

rated:

Hooray! After getting totally frustrated the last time these were free due to the web ordering process failing about 50 times in a row with different browsers and devices, it went through on the first try this time.

Thanks OP.

Definitely. If you have a Galaxy DUO, you could get the $30 prepaid plan in one SIM, and put your no-data plan post paid SIM in another.

does any one use Straight Talk? which one is better?

rated:

I am concerning about family mobile or Straight Talk for a while and now I believe the Monthly 4G plan from Tmobile is much better. At least it is from tmobile itself instead of other middleman. Any one agree?

rated:

Thx FW Staff... just ordered a SIM card for a phone that's been sitting in a drawer for the past 7 years.

lediama said:   does any one use Straight Talk? which one is better?I used the monthly T-Mobile plan (unlim data+txt, 100 min) using GrooveIP and Google Voice for voice comms. I was extremely unimpressed and after 2 months am now using StraightTalk. Just started tho, so no real results yet....

The sim card probably worth more than that phone.

I have a nexus 4 that I just put a Straight Talk att Sim in less than a month ago. It is throttled at 241kbs for the data. Phone indicates only about 1GB data for the past month. In reading at the Howard forums, this has become a huge issue in the last few months in that a single day's activity can get your account "permanently" throttled (meaning throttled until you call which could take hours and it's no guarantee they will remove the throttle)

rated:

With Straight Talk, if you use a lot of data.. they will completely deactivate your account.. without the option for yo to port your number.

For that reason, I will continue to stay with TMobile's $30 plan.. which I have been using since May of last year. Unthrottled 4G data till I reach 5GB.. then throttled to 60kbps.. but I have only reached 5GB data limit once.
For extra outgoing minutes, I use voip.ms. 1 cent per minute for US calls, .5 cent per minute for Canadian calls.

rated:

thanks gatzdon

I eventually go with tmobile monthly 4G from my local store. No worry to order the new activation sim card. They just switch me from my tmobile expired contract plan to monthly 4g plan without any extra charge. No sim card cost and no activation fee. Now I start to enjoy the savings and reliable service. I hope that I should know early. Thanks to the thread as well.

I think the no-contract experiment will be interesting. The regular folks have no idea just how expensive the handsets really are. And they are so trained in the "FREE" (or very low cost) model every two years...

My guess is they will return to the regular contract system as the sticker shock will be too much for most to take.

No, you cannot "move" to a plan and stop paying your annual contract.

There is no difference between SIMs used for prepaid and postpaid, the difference is the plan. Sure, you can get new SIM and activate it as one of the monthly pre-paid or pay-as-you-go. But you still need to satisfy your annual contract with T-Mobile in one of the two ways known - either pay till it is over, or cancel and pay penalty. I am pretty sure you can move the number from the postpaid to prepaid plan but will have to get another number for the postpaid if keeping the service there.

Use a different email and credit card and it will go through.

Sticker shock from buying no-contract android phone for $100-200 (minus $50 card)? Ouch, color me tickled.

My TigerD Rebate card worked fine.

I got the same message, though I have never ordered one. I resubmitted the information and it went through the second time. Hope this helps

Got one! Thanks OP.

Does this SIM have an account expiration date for no usage ?? I am asking cos I am currently on ATT and just want to see if I can get a T mobile SIM for backup.
I dont think I have to sign up for anything right ??

rated:

Ordered two - one to replace my regular SIM that I cut down to microSIM size (and is constantly unseating) and one for the wife's Iphone4. F AT&T.

rated:

ya ya ya

rated:

FYI, I'm not sure if it is because it was free or if they changed all SIM kits, but the free one I bought the last time they had this deal did not have any minutes on it - whereas the one I bought a few months ago for like $5 had something like 5 or 10 minutes on it.

It won't matter to most of you, but if you are using this to port your land-line from another carrier to T-Mobile to Google Voice, you will have to add minutes so that you can make the verification call from Google Voice.

Currently the lowest denomination refill card is $10.

As I am typing this I am just imagining how cheap I sound, but that is $10 for one phone call that takes less than a minute.

rated:

It has like $3 and change on it at activation enough for 10 voice minutes IIRC.

Obviously if you want to use it you'll need to refill.

rated:

Now to see how I can use this on an AT&T 1st Gen 3G ipad...

It shows .99 each for me. I bet I can get them for free when I go to the store and activate my phones.
