Vacation Spending Survey: 6 in 10 of Americans Will Go On Vacation

Vacation Spending SurveyNew survey from FatWallet.com reports that 83% of Americans adults go on vacations, 6 in 10 take vacations every year, and almost half will spend more than $1,500 on their next vacation.

April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FatWallet.com, the one-stop resource for online coupons and deals with cash back savings, announced results from its Vacation Spending Survey* (TNS Global). Of 1,000 American adults surveyed online, 83% said they regularly go on vacations and 6 in 10 go on vacation every year, with 3 in 10 saying they go on two or more vacations per year. Surprisingly, 17% said they never go on vacations, jumping to 21% for 40-somethings and 35% for those that earn less than $30k/year.

According to the US Travel Association, total domestic leisure travel is forecast to exceed $1.6 Billion in 2014. FatWallet's vacation survey also reveals that almost half (46%) will spend more than $1,500 on their next vacation, while 13% will spend more than $3,000 (20% for those that earn $75k/year or more). To save money, 73% of vacationers said they look online for special offers and travel deals, use miles and points or look for cash back rewards. Of 1,000 American adults surveyed online, 48% said they will purchase a new smartphone this year (52% of females and 60% under age 30) with Android slightly edging out iPhones. One in every four surveyed said they're likely to buy new tablets and of those, one in three want iPads. The survey also reveals that more than half will buy electronics from online retailers and 31% said they'll spend more than $500. Super Bowl TV Buyers SurveyNational survey from FatWallet reports that of those who will buy a TV this year, 32% say they're most likely to buy new TVs during Super Bowl sales.

Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FatWallet.com, where savvy shoppers share coupons and earn cash back at over 1,500 stores, launched an infographic to display results from a national survey of 2014 TV Buyers (*TNS Global). Almost one third surveyed (30%) plan to buy a new TV this year and of those, 32% said during Super Bowl sales, while 25% said during Black Friday. The survey also revealed price will have the most influence over TV purchases with more than half saying they plan to spend less than $500, while one in four plan to spend more than $700. "January is one of the top two times of year to find a great deal on quality HDTV's and home theater packages," stated Brent Shelton, FatWallet spokesperson. "January shoppers get a two-for by saving money on a big ticket item and enhancing their viewing experience for the big game."

Super Bowl Drives Most TV Purchases in 2014

New survey from FatWallet.com reports that 30% will purchase a new TV in 2014 and more consumers will buy them in January during Super Bowl sales versus Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any other time of the year.

Jan. 20, 2014 "/PRNewswire/ -- FatWallet.com, the one-stop resource for smart shoppers, announced results from its 2014 TV Buyer Survey* (TNS Global). Of those surveyed online, 30% said they will purchase a new TV this year (35% males and 38% under age 30). Almost one third of those will buy a TV during Super Bowl sales. The survey also reveals that their purchasing decisions are influenced most by price (45%), followed by TV features (35%) and brand (20%).

Key survey results for those that said they will purchase a new TV this year:
• 32% to buy new TVs during Super Bowl sales, 25% Black Friday, 6% Cyber Monday
• More than half will spend less than $500, 32% will spend $700 or more
• Samsung top TV brand(33%), Sony (18%), LG (16%) Vizio (14%)
• The majority of TV buyers (80%) will seek 1080p, only 6% want new 4K TVs
• 45% want Mid-size 40-54" TVs, 31% 55" or bigger, 6% 70" or bigger.
