October 18, 2011 | Posted By: Heather Stephens | Categorized in: Shopping
There are 38 days until Black Friday 2011 and we're counting them down with money saving and holiday shopping tips.

Today's Tip:

Shipping vs. Gas

Doing your homework can really pay off, and help you save time and money saving time during the Holiday shopping season!

Today's tip is to evaluate the added price of shipping costs when you're shopping online, compared to your gas and time buying from a brick and mortar store.

When you're comparing deals online and offline, don't overlook the cost of shipping vs. the mileage on your car. (The standard mileage rates for 2011, according to the IRS are 51 cents per mile.)

Also don't forget the cost of your time. What's your time worth? If can pick up a gift on your way home from work, it may be worth it to buy it in the brick and mortar store. If not, consider buying it online instead. :)
