October 6, 2011 | Posted By: Heather Stephens | Categorized in: Shopping
There are 50 days until Black Friday 2011 and we're counting them down with money saving and holiday shopping tips.

Today's Tip:

S.O.S. Shopping Online Safely

So while many people will be out shopping in brick and mortar stores on Black Friday, others will be shopping from home.

And while most of us are no longer online shopping newbies, it's always good to be reminded what to look for to know we're shopping safely online.

Today's tip is to look for the httpS at the beginning of the URL when we're entering our personal information. The "S" tells you that the site is using secure encryption to send your information over the internet, so that if it were to be intercepted by anyone they would not be able to distinguish the message.

When you're entering in your payment information, take a peek at the URL and make sure it starts with https.
