Buyer Beware of: Scarcity

We're more highly motivated by the thought of losing something than we are the thought of gaining something. And I'm sure it's no surprise that we find value in one of a kind objects and get a thrill being one of a limited few.

Scarcity is one of the biggest marketing techniques of Black Friday. We have a deadline, one day only, to get the lowest priced deals of the season. Everyone is excited and wanting to grab the best deals, so that we feel competition with our fellow shoppers and don't want to miss out on getting our fair share.

If you find yourself getting worked int a frenzy to get a deal on Black Friday take a deep breath and ask yourself why you want it. You could be getting the deal of the day or possibly falling under the spell of a marketer's scarcity trick.

Remember: items that are the least available are the most desirable.
