Black Friday Tip #73: That’s Our Policy

There are 73 days until Black Friday 2011 and we’re counting them down with money saving and holiday shopping tips.

Today’s Tip:

“That’s Our Policy”

Could more frustrating words be heard coming out of the mouth of the person in customer service when you’re trying to exchange a gift that just isn’t right?

I learned this lesson the hard way and I’m sure many of you have too. There’s a big price to pay, both on the giving end as well as the receiving end when a gift’s not right and you’re not clear of the store’s return policy.

Many stores offer cash back or exchange within a limited time frame only. Others will let you return the item for store credit only, and some don’t offer returns at all, depending on the item you’re purchasing.

If you’re black Friday shopping for gifts for others, there’s no way of knowing the gift will 100% perfect. Don’t be caught off guard. Make sure you are clear on the store’s return policy before you buy.
