The debate is a good one! Shannen surprised us last month with a fantastic post on Price Scrimmage Between the Supermarket and the Supercenter showing us how the discount stores are not always cheaper than shopping at the supermarkets with coupons. Our readers on Facebook asked her to compare Aldi to her local stores to see how it stacked up. Here are her results!Enjoy! :) Heather Stephens I’ve spent the past few weeks watching ads and pricing items. Then I made a few trips to Aldi to compare prices. By watching sales and using coupons, I actually spent less money at the supermarkets in my area. These prices reflect at least 2 different shopping trips I made to each store. Here are my examples: ![]() ![]() ![]() Bargain BuysThis week at Walgreens, you can get a gallon of Dean’s milk for $2.39. This is the cheapest in my area. I learned something new this week too. You cannot use Register Rewards on milk at Walgreens. Actually, there is a whole list of things you can’t use them on (located on each RR).I love the deals at Target this week!! There are so many! Check these out: DelMonte can veggies for 49 cents( get free with target coupon), Betty Crocker potatoes for 89 cents (10-2 GM), Stove top stuffing for 89 cents, Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup for 59 cents (11-6 SS), Swanson chicken broth for 59 cents (11-6 SS), DelMonte can fruit for $1, Ritz Crackers for $2.34 (11-13 SS), Gold Medal flour for $2.34 (check Gold Medal website for coupon), Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese for $1.49 (target coupon), Crisco vegetable oil for$2.99 (11-6 RP and target coupon), Ore Ida potatoes for $2.50 (smartsource.com). Target prices are good through Saturday November 19th. Prices listed are before coupons. It should also be mentioned that you can count on those Aldi prices being pretty much the same week after week without having to match up coupons. I found this great site to check out Aldi product reviews too - it's aldishopper.blogspot.com.
