I believe that to be completely true. From living in Chicago my whole life to working in Wisconsin now, I've braced all the Midwest has to offer in terms of weather. Sure, winter is fun with all the pretty snow and cute cozy sweaters but in reality - we are all freezing our butts off! To add substance to my case, we even painted a wall in our FatWallet office of a beach landscape and bright sun (see right image). I suppose the fantasy of being by a beach helps us block out the overcast and below zero days that we face outside our windows. Either way, this cold weather is pushing a lot of people to start booking vacations to warmer climates. If you are thinking, "wait, plan another trip? I just did all my traveling over the holidays!", you might want to think again. According to our When to Buy What (January Cheat Sheet), this is a great time to snatch up low deals on airfare/hotel combo packages. Plus, if you stuck on where to go, check out some of these hot spots to beat those winter blues. Kim, our expert deal hunter, rounded up some of her hottest travel deals below. Travelocity has an amazing deal featuring Hawaii Resorts from $119 per night. Can you imagine that low of a price? I had the privilege of traveling to Hawaii for my uncle's wedding when I was thirteen. As much fun as I had, I remember thinking how expensive everything was there. A Gatorade at a local store was a little over five dollars. Uh, no thank you. I'll take the water. If you have a little more cushion to your budget, check out these tips for visiting Hawaii on any budget. For all other questions or concerns, check out our travel discussion in the FatWallet forums. There is a whole community who can help you out! If you are traveling soon, I wish you all the best. For the rest of us still stuck in an igloo - keep calm and crank up those heaters!
