Pay the Lowest Price and Get Money Back if you the Price Drops!

What stores will refund you difference if the price you paid drops? Don't you hate it when that happens? Here is how to prevent that from happening, or get money back if it does. The holidays are fast approaching and it is time to grab those great deals at the best prices of the year. It is worth it to pay attention to prices even after you buy. If the price drops, ask for the difference back!

Learn the price protection policies at major retailers and then after you make a purchase, register them at priceprotectr.com. This free website tracks price drops for you at over 160 stores. I recently purchased something from Overstock.com and the next day I got an email with a promo code for 15% off. I went to the Overstock.com website and clicked on the "live chat" option. I asked for the price difference and $22 was credited back to my card. It took less than 5 minutes!


Priceprotectr.com will email you if the price drops and then you can get the difference back, depending on the store policy and the allowed time frame. Here are the price adjustment policies at some major retailers from the Price Protectr website and from my research:

7 days

Dick's Sporting Goods - for online purchases call 1-877-846-9997.

JC Penney - for online purchases call customer service at 1-800-322-1189. Not available for clearance items.

Kmart- for online purchases call customer service at 1-866-562-7848.

Office Depot - purchases 1-800-463-3768.

Walmart -for online purchases, contact customer services online.

10 days

Home Depot - for online purchases call customer service at 1-800-430-3376.

Macy's - for online purchases, call 1-800-289-6229.

Overstock.com - claims must be for $5.00 or more and are limited to 3 claims within a 90 day period. Refunds are issued as store credit. Click on the Online Best Price Match Logo on any product page.

14 days

Apple Store - visit local store for in store purchases. For online purchases call customer service at 1-800-676-2775.

Babies "R" US - each store sets their own policy. For online purchases call 1-888-BABYRUS (1-888-222-9787).

Best Bu - 14 days for computers, camcorders, radar detectors, and used video games and 30 days for other items. Read store policy here. Best Buy will match competitors prices and give you 10% of the difference. For online purchases, call customer service at 1-888-237-8289.

Diapers.com -contact customer service at bestprice@diapers.com or 1-800-342-7377.

GAP- a one time price adjustment but does not apply to items purchases with promotional discounts. For online purchases, contact customer service at custserv@gap.com or 1-800-427-7895.

Kohl's - will match competitors prices at time of purchase. For online purchases call 1-866-887-8884.

Nordstrom -for online purchases, call 1-888-282-6060.

Office Max - will match competitors price plus 15% of the difference. For online purchases, call 1-800-283-7674.

Old Navy - offers a one time price adjustment. Price protection does not include items purchases with promotional discounts. For online purchases, call 1-800-653-6289.

Staples - will match competitors price and accept their coupons. For online purchases, call 1-800-333-3330.

Target - applies to in-store purchases only.

The Children's Place - For online purchases, call 1-800-628-0525.

Toys "R" US - each store sets their own policy. For online purchases, call 1-800-869-7787.

15 days

Fry's - for most computers, CD and DVD recorders, camcorders, digital cameras, and air conditioners and 30 days for other items. Fry's will match competitors prices plus match 10% of the difference.

21 days

Victoria's Secret - for online purchases, call 1-800-411-5116.

30 days

Barnes & Noble - for in store purchases. For online purchases, protection expires when you receive your item-better act fast! Call customer service at 1-800-843-2665.

Bed, Bath & Beyond - will match competitors price- you can also bring in a coupon and your receipt after a purchase and they will credit you the difference, no expiration on this! For online purchases, contact customer service at 1-800-462-3966.

BJ's Wholesale Club - for online purchases, visit their website.

Dell - covers items $50 and up. Call customer service at 1-800-449-3355.

Lamps Plus - will match competitors price plus 20% of the difference.

Lowe's - will match competitor's price plus 10% of the difference.

Sam's Club - for online purchases, call 1-888-746-7726.

Sears - will match competitor's price plus 10% of the difference. For online purchases, call customer service at 1-800-349-4358. 90 days Costco - You may want to bring your receipts with you and check prices as you shop. If you know of any other price protection policies to share, please send me a comment.

Amazon - discontinued their price protection policy last year. However, they did give me a $60 credit when the price of the Kindle I bought dropped by $60.00. It doesn't hurt to ask.
