McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes are a highlight of the year for me. I’ve loved the cool minty flavor for as long as I can remember and look forward to them around Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day every year.
But they’re only available a few weeks out of the year. So I went on the hunt for some Shamrock Shake recipes to try at home. I even found a few healthy weight loss smoothie versions of the mint shake to try! If you ask me, that’s a breakfast worth waking up for!
I’d also recommend if you love chocolate and mint together adding a little cocoa powder to these recipes would be delicious! Top them them with some whipped cream and a cherry would be the perfect finishing touch.
Check ‘em out below, grab your blender, and treat yourself to a little mint magic this St. Patrick’s Day and beyond!

This protein shake starts with 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese. Add to that 1/4 cup of vanilla protein powder, 1/8 cup mint extract, 2-3 stevia packets, ice cubes (5-10), 4 oz of water, a handful of spinach to make it green, and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar free instant pistachio pudding mix. She also calls for a pinch guar or xanthan gum, which I didn’t have, but will help make the shake more creamy. Blend and enjoy. Serves 1.
