Stores Offering Cash Back on Gift Cards: Holiday 2012

Who doesn't love receiving a gift card? What's even better is receiving cash back for purchasing or redeeming one! We've rounded up a blueprint of FatWallet merchants who are generous enough to pay cash back when you buy or redeem one of their gift cards/eGift cards.*

This is the first year that I received cash back on a gift card purchase, and I absolutely love it. It makes me question why I was even rushing out to the stores beforehand. Case in point, buying a Christmas gift for my brother. Since he lives across the country from me, we always like to exchange gift cards. He absolutely loves REI, the outdoors sporting goods store. The problem is that the closest REI is about an hour away from me. So every year, I make it a point to drive out there and buy him a gift card. This year, I was educated on some smarter shopping methods. Not only did I not have to drive out there (REI offers free standard shipping until 1/2/13), but I also earned cash back! For a $25 gift card purchase, I received $2 dollars back in my FatWallet account. It may seem little now, but those $2 will start to add up.
