Tax Free Weekend: Shop Tax Free for Back to School Supplies

July 17, 2013 | Posted By: Heather Stephens | Categorized in: Tax Advice & Tips, Back to School

It's summer and I'm so not ready to be thinking about back to school yet. But I noticed this week that the school supplies are starting to show up in the stores. For families with multiple children back to school time can be as expensive as the holidays!

Luckily 17 states are offering sales tax holiday dates for Back to School shopping to help ease the burden. Here's a list of the participating states and the dates. Most states offer the tax free holiday in early August, except for Mississippi, which is in July.

We've included a list of items that are exempt from each state's tax free holiday as well as a link to the information about the tax holiday on the state's website in case you have questions.

Enjoy the savings and the rest of summer!
:) Heather
