socalgirl1 said:don't quite understand how to sort the list once i download it? can't click on data, sort. it's not clickable. it's a protected doc, so if i try to unprotect its asking for a password. can anyone help with this? i just want to be able to sort by item/category. thanks, gayle Same problem here. It does look like it's protected now. I downloaded a copy a week ago and it was workable, but this updated file is locked. Still useful though, thanks again OP. eta: Just copy and paste the worksheet onto a blank worksheet and you can sort and filter from there. |

FrugalFreak said:can anyone tell me why the spreadsheet is protected thus making it impossible to arrange columns where I can view them easier? I don't do MIR and want to move the price in that column so I don't have to keep going back and forth with horizontal scroll bar.
any way to do that OP? or is the customization locked?
anyone have the first version released before it got locked? Create a new worksheet then copy and paste all from the original to the blank sheet. Your new worksheet will be unlocked. |

Great spreadsheet, but why no WalMart? You'd figure the #1 retailer in the country would be a priority. |

All, Here the sheet that allows you to add or remove columns. Please note if you edit this sheet and then want to add the updates (new stores) that OP provides, you will have to do it manually. Instructions for importing/copy futures updates
- Save the updated excel in a different name (so as not to overwrite your changes)
- Open BF_Buying_Gude_2008_EditEnabled.xls
- Open BF_Buying_Guide_2008.xls (this has the updates that you are interested in)
- Select the rows in BF_Buying_Guide_2008.xls that you are interested in
- Right click and select "Copy" from the menu
- Now goto BF_Buying_Guide_2008_EditEnabled.xls
- Scroll down to the last row in this sheet, and select the first cell in the next row (this row should be empty)
- Right click and select "Paste" from the menu
Thats it you are done, be sure to repeat the steps above for additional updates that OP keeps providing. And don't forget to rep the OP. Excel File |

Microsoft has free viewers for all their Office components, including this one for Excel. You can also get an oldie but goodie Office knockoff from Corel, which provides Wordperfect and Quattro Pro (Excel-like) for under $10 here |

Thanks akelnat! This excel worksheet really took the pain out of Black Friday/Christmas shopping last year. I like to fill in color for items interested. Am I doing something wrong....I cannot get it to allow me to do it?? Thanks again. |
