Looking for a cheap non-gaming desktop and not much chatter on FW. Is the Fry's Compaq deal @$299 the best one out there today? |

LOL.
Why bother? Most of the items are available online. Yeah, I don't get it. For me, nothing they offer this year is worth standing in line for hours and dealing with the madhouse. But I guess since everyone has a different cost/benefit analysis, for some it makes sense. |

It seems like there's not a lot of good deal this year, besides the 22" LCD. |

Just been back from Frys in Irving, TX. There is NO multi-page AD, WTF. The same 2 pages are in the notice board, with lots of them sold out. Unless I missed something. Most of the shit is sold out. 32" LCD TV, 32GB pen drive all gone. The line to the sales counter is massive. If you planning to go now, I would suggest against it, its raining, no parking, not worth the drive. |

Mentalboy 76- Thanks for the heads up. Was about to head that way. I saw only 2 pages in the Dallas paper also. Kinda sad! |

Then there's the stress and fatigue of spending hours to get in, hours at the checkout line, etc. The net "cost" of going to Fry's is probably TWICE the number of hours you actually spend there. For a lot of people, they'd be better off going to work instead. |

Green for the OP for posting the ad, but the deals are so lame... Good for my wallet though. |

Just ordered all the FAR software I wanted online in my onesies and had it all shipped free. Now I have to go back and see if I missed anything. Does anyone know if Frys.com has any card partnerships? I checked AMEX and Discovercard.com but didn't see anything. |

I also went to Frys in Irving, TX this morning, and I will second anything remotely decent is gone. I did get the $299 desktop bundle (3 boxes) and wasn't able to get anything else because they were all gone. Had to kick the boxes to keep up in lines to find out the others was sold out, and was glad I got in checkout when I did. What a total waste of time. They did hand out a single page of store specials, but it was a bigger joke than the newspaper ads. I wonder if anyone got in line at 3:30 AM for a laptop bag... When I got there, the line was going around the back of the store. I got a TV from Target down the road later, so I was good. Wanted to go there anyway to get my boy LEGO Batman. |

Well, if you had gotten the 52" 1080p 120hz, you would've saved ~$1600+. Very few people would've net'd a day of income better than that. runningair said:blickman said:Yeah, I don't get it. Hey guys, Going to make the story as short as possible. There was a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV at Frys for $388. There was also a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV at WalMart for $498. I went out to Frys at 4am this morning and the line was so long and i decided that no way i am going to get this Samsung with all the people there. My backup plan came up. I left and went to WalMart. Keep in mind i had a printout of my Frys ad, WalMart Ad match policy, and the WalMart ad for the Samsung at $498. Initially, I wasn't able to convince the manager at WalMart to match the price. He said i couldn't use a computer printout of the Frys ad, so i had to buy the actual local paper which contained the Frys ad. He finally said ok. Thus, i waited until the WalMart employee on the intercom tell the customers at 5am to be able to take their items. It was a mad rush of people running pulling their boxes of TVs. Just remember, WalMart doesn't pass out vouchers. I'd say over 95% were buying the Emerson 32" for $388. I just waited until everyone got their TVs. I went in to pick up the Samsung 32". I went to the checkout and notified the cashier that the manager approved it. Bam, i got the Samsung 32" at WalMart for $388 plux tax just like the one at Frys...so i thought. However, when i went home, it was a slightly different model....one that has one spec that is not as good as the one at Frys, but every other spec was the same for both models. My model that i got at WalMart has a 6000:1 dynamic contrast ratio vs. 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio at Frys. I had duped the WalMart people, but ended up duping myself...lol.. However, the model i got has the speakers blended better with the frame of lcd. Oh well, you win some you lose some. |

I just want to add that i had confused the model #s and it didn't help that the Samsung box had 2 model #s with one being the same model # like the Frys ad, though the WalMart ad had a different model #. I'm happy since i would've never been able to get the Samsung at Frys. People probably were lining up around 1am i bet. |

I haven't looked at PC tech for few years. I don't see these combos in this ad. Or am I missing something obvious? Sorry, should have been clearer. Those were last years combos -- I believe they were priced at $199 and $59, respectively. |

Ugh.. everyone was complaining about how LOUSY of a deal Frys was... cept for that Samsung Bottom-Mount freezer fridge... @ $600, it was almost $300 cheaper than anything else I can find in the region. Of course all SoCal Frys sold out by lunch time. Really need a fridge, sick of eating out |
