so would instant rebate or free shipping or those special offers on HP counts as "separate discount"? this sounds too good to be true and kinda risky...

There hasn't been a laptop on HP's site in the last 3-4 months that I've been checking that hasn't had an instant rebate when you put it in your cart.

HP is currently 25% off with Live.com and the instant rebates are on all the laptops, haven't checked desktops.

HP had a 25% sale over Labor Day and I didn't see anyone post that they didn't get their CB if they didn't violate the TOS.

If you use the 25% off link today it's not replacing the instant rebate. I don't think we'll know for sure till tomorrow.

Alot of those items on the HP site have "instant rebates" applied to them...theoretically, this would invalidate or make ineligible for the live.com CashBack offer if you read the terms.

I am assuming that the CashBack will calculate the 40% after the instant rebates. So it would be 579*.6= $347 +tax otd

this is the way they did it in the past during the Labor Day and other Live.com special promotions, since every computer has an instant rebate. I would think at worst they'd deduct the instant rebate, but I have never heard of them just giving part of the deal, either it's all or they would totally reject it. This is a huge promotion, it's currently at 25% off, how could they deny everyone CashBack when every computer has an instant rebate that they put there.

So what is instant rebate? deduct the money immediately when I purchase?

The instant rebate is where the DV5 computer I linked above is 729 and there's a $150 instant rebate - that deducts the $150 in your cart before purchase.
