In the six-years-or-so since I've been going to Fry's for Black Friday, this has never happened before. But it turns out the rumor was true (as I found out this morning from Fry's employees): Fry's will bring out it's 8 page ad tomorrow, Saturday, instead of Friday and it seems that's where the motherlode of Black-Friday-style deals will be this year--given that regular Friday ads are 8 pages, let alone the normal Black Friday ads, this is clearly a new thing.
The rumor suggested, fwiw, that this change was made because the post-Black Friday weekends were typically somewhat weak and Fry's wanted to try to boost sales on the weekend. I suppose the notion is that they can get the Black Friday crowd to show up Friday and to get others who might've gone elsewhere Friday to come Saturday, as well as "double dippers", who would come both days--just a guess on my part.
In any event, look for the ad on Saturday. According to Friday's ad, Fry's will be open 9AM-10PM on Saturday.
(One might expect a small ad Sunday too, since they always have a one-page ad on Saturday and Sunday, and since it's the Black Friday period, it's possible it might have some one-day sales too--hard to recall exactly how it was in years past).

I am agree your opinion. I think Fry will have more discount tomorrow and Sunday. I never seen like this black friday before. They usually have a lot of customer. Even last year, a lot of people are lining up to enter in the store till night. Now most the people are gone after 8 am. Not this year. so they will have more discount tomorrow.
Today, I went to the Fry and try to get the LG52". I get the quote already and i asked the customer service is that ok to shop around? he told me that i can go shop around and come back for pick up. Guess what.. they dont have it no more.. . that was stupid. Waste my time.

yeah, if you get rights to a hot item like that you must hold on to it and defend it. there's no way that an item like that one could sit there with hundreds of buyers and salesfolks running around for it to stay reserved.

This saturday sale sounds like it's going to be good. But my question is: when should I get there? Will the crowd be really as huge as it is for friday?
I can understand why Fry's wouldn't release the black friday ad because they didn't want to lose customers because of poor deals, but I don't understand why they would do the same thing for this "mystery" saturday sale. They've never done it before, no one else is doing it this year (to my knowledge), and I think they need to try harder to convince customers who are probably already tired out from black friday (physically and wallet-wise) to come back for another round. This is especially true in areas where Fry's stores are usually located far from most of the general population...No one wants to drive an hour's worth for deals that aren't worth it.
I do think that this idea is interesting and if successful, will definitely instigate an entire modification of the usual post-thanksgiving sales. =)
If they are so worried about crappy post BF weekend sales, this may not be the best way to get the dough. Most normal shoppers (smirk) would probably be "tapped out" by tomorrow for bigger expenditures. And unless fry's ads knock our socks off, I suspect that will hurt this strategy even more.
people lined up because they wanted something, even from the Fri ad. so they're glad they did, regardless of what comes on Sat, which no one has yet shown will offer prices or items better than Fri, so knocking on the Fri shoppers is still a little premature.
I spent two hours yesterday morning to order the Panasonic DECT 6.0 phone. Their website keeps crashing, but my order finally went through. So I thought everything is settled. After getting my order confirmation email yesterday, I got another email today saying they canceled my order since they run out of stock. They also refuse to provide something similiar as makeup. How stupid is that. I bought a 52 inch LCD TV from them earlier this year. But I will never buy again from them with such service.

Well Frys sure didn't get much to worry about from the competition today, with perhaps the exception of Newegg online.
On balance, the "sales" that were out there today were so bad that there's PLENTY of room for a savvy company to make a killing tomorrow Saturday!
IF they treat us customers right (BOTH in stores and online) this could turn out to be a very smart move. I guess we should have a pretty good idea by next week.

I can vouch for this. I also did a lot of online shopping while I was in line for those few items I picked up in Frys. IF I wake up and get a paper (or see the ad online), and IF Frys undercuts my current purchases by 20% or more and IF there's a minimal line before opening, I'll return/cancel my current items and buy from Frys. Otherwise, this sale is moot for me and the Frys marketing team lost.
