Much appreciated, OP! Even if I wait a few months to pull the trigger on my purchase, this will be a nice set of reference points.

I was wondering if anyone had any input on a small HDTV. I am looking to get a LCD TV around 22" with HDTV. I saw the one at officemax- a 23" Samsung for 299 or at miejers a sylvania 22" for 250. Which one is beter? If you know of any other ones that are around on BF that are better let me know. Thanks for any input.

The sale on the Samsung A650 isn't great at Sears. That is what you can buy it for on Amazon. Actually it has been 100.00 cheaper on Amazon lately. Depending on the day it goes from 1988 to 2080 or so.
This black friday is really disappointing. I figured these tvs should be down to 1,500 at least. Especially considering the economy and the back stock of these LCD tvs. There have to be warehouses full of these things. People just aren't letting loose of the big bucks now when they can use what tv they have. I can wait.

There are three ways in which you can pay for your Electronics-shopping.com orders:
* PayPal - Only accept paypal by VIP Customers * Western Union * Wire Transfer
---- Only accept Paypal to VIP Customers. Become VIP customer (buy from here more than 10 times ) or first order choose above $2,000 pays Wire Transfer(T/T), Western Union.
Wire transfers and Western Union go to China.
What do you think? Fake and scam, IMHO.

I'm thinking about getting a 23"-24" and so far am leaning towards this one but hope there will be a deal on a 24":
I need to buy a 32" for my 91 year old mother. What is the quality of the Emerson, Dynex, Element, Proscan, and AOC models? I wish Olevia was still around, they sold a very good 32" at Micro Center two years ago. What about the more expensive Toshiba and Samsungs, are they noticeably better?

How and when would you know, what deals (specially Tv's ) are available online as well. If its online, will it be for a certain time period as well. Like 5:00 am to 7:0 am something like that ? Please let me know,
I read somewhere that the sale prices in-store will also be the sale prices online for some stores. Unfortunately I'm unable to go to a store on BF so I was hoping to find something good online. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
I had bought samsung 52" LCD HDTV (LN52A550) from Amazon in Aug for $1700 including taxes, shipping and white glove delivery from CEVA. also got 24 months no interest financing from Amazon..
look for the specs carefully..Circuit City website explains them good...diff in contrast ratio, resolution makes a huge impact, also look for #s of inputs/outputs, viewing angle
my eyes could not tell me any diff between 60Hz and 120Hz model. I don't think it's worth to throw extra money for 120Hz models..

What about the more expensive Toshiba and Samsungs, are they noticeably better? The Dec. 2008 Consumer Reports has ratings for LCD and plasma TVs, and generally the major brands rated more highly, overall and in picture quality, but even the worst weren't that bad. OTOH when it comes to reliability, the most reliable LCDs bought from 2005-2008 ranked as follows (< 3% point differences not statistically significant):
Envision is a real TV maker and is a brand of Korea's AOC. Emerson is probably made by Funai, a Japanese company that has long produced low-end products sold under several brands, including Sylvania and Symphonic, and even products for more established companies, like Philips/Magnavox, JVC, and Toshiba (those three used to sell Funai VCRs). Apparently Westinghouse is by Chi Mei Electronics, Polaroid by Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics Company. Olevia just assembles LCD panels (made by LG), tuner/logic boards, and power supplies into plastic cabinets.

Radio Shack is substituting the L32W761 (Last years model, ONLY 1 HDMI) for the ad pictured L32W861 (current and on web site as $399, 2 HDMI) without telling the customers that it's not the same TV. I didn't realize the switch until I got home. I called, and the store manager told me he had been aware of the difference for months yet he had sold all the older models he had as if they were the newer model. (There was a bit of hesitation in admitting this at first.) I expect a lot of disappointed folks who expected to be able to plug 2 HDMI devices into this TV on Christmas. Of course they were out of stock across the state for the newer 861 model. Not a very honest approach from Radio Shack. Seems kinda like a bait-and-switch to me.
Anyone else experience the same? Anyone else not get told they were being sold an older less feature filled model as a "substitution?"
