I'm just waiting for confirmation from the boss that I have the day off. Until then, accumulating money to mostly spend on MEEEEE

Last year we were kind of in a slump so I wasnt really excited, but this year with promotions and pay raises in place I've been getting really antsy and Ive been gearing up and saving since June lol
Wal-Mart is now calling it "The Yearly Event" and stores are detailing better crowd control strategies. Some stores will be roping off and guarding the pallets w/2-4 associates at a time. People will wait in line with a claim ticket to get their merchandise. No more tickets = sold out.
This year has to beat last year, I think, 2008 didn't really impress me too much.

Ya I am really hoping this year will be better. I did not see any reason to get out last year. I was able to snag a laptop for my father from WalMart, but it wasnt even on BF. The excitement is starting to build up!!
I am keeping an eye out on a new LCD monitor. I hope to snag a 24 inch wide screen or bigger.

I would love the chance to get a mini computer, now that would be a great deal if I can find one for a decent price. I am talking about $150-200 at the most before tax if you see something like this let me know.

I think it was 2005. I think 2006.....2007.....2008 things just went downhill from '05. Hopefully '09 is the new '05.
Edit: I think it was 2004. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Point is they have sucked the past few years.

so tell me, what is the purpose of having a GPS built into your TV??
Been a little disappointed in the last couple of years, but usually drive past the Best Buy to see the insanity. I am a little surprised that more retailers don't open up ON Thanksgiving Day to get a lead on those that don't.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the store but.... there is a computer/electronics store in south FL that opens up late on Thanksgiving night (like midnight) to start their BF deals. I want to say that its Comp USA...

K-Mart is open on Thanksgiving Day. CompUSA (before they closed) used to do pre-BF sale(s)...either at 6:00 pm on the Wednesday before BF and then at 12:00 midnight on BF. So I would hit CompUSA and then be on my way to Fry's or Circuit City.

Saw an ad while I was in Best Buy today for a Dell notebook for $250. I can't imagine it getting lower than that.
I am making homemade gifts this year. So that I can spend more money on me on Black Friday.

I think this year will be more violent due to the economy, but stores have been learning how to control crowds a little better the past years; those that don't are going to have some holiday lawsuits. The sales are going to be sub par since there aren't going to be many purchases of high margin items this year to pay for the loss leaders.

2005 was the best Black Friday for me. I met my fiance' that morning.
She and her two friends (twins), were three girls with a case of the giggles. They were browsing the Verizon store where I was a greeter, so I had all the time in the world to chat/flirt with them. We knew there'd be little traffic until the noon doorbusters were over everywhere else...so my manager Amy let gave me a long leash that morning. I'm glad she did bc one of the twins gave me the cell phone number they shared; later that week they told me "Kelly likes you" when she was in their bedroom; she screamed! And grabbed the phone from them.
The rest is history.
BF has become "our day we met." LOL I've even dragged her to sales each year.
And don't forget that also in 2006 we all camped-out for Wii's and PS3's, y'all! 2006 was a great shopping season!
After 36 hours of waiting, being 21st, 22nd, and 23rd in line for 20 Playstations, Kelly, my little brother and I went home hanging our heads. Only to find an online deal site that introduced me to this store called COSTCO. And their polite staff let me in two minutes after they'd closed...just to buy a membership so I could get a PS3 in the morning. And we did!
Sure several $474 RCA 52" HDTVs @ Wallymart, a few $400 Element 32" LCD's @ H0MEDEPOT (plus 10% L0WE'S coupon) and other deals made that 2006 Black Friday awesome.
But Black Friday can produce lifelong relationships.
'05 = The love of my life '06 = Costco shopper for life
Think about what you might realize this holiday season.

Hi,
I am little surpriced by this as, Thanksgiving is a day for retailers to offer all the deals and shoping discounts for all, also they offers and sell all the best deals online for everyone.
There appears Black friday after thanksgiving which is considered the day for retailers and also for evrtyone to shop around.
Thanks!!

I'm curious how the retailers are going to handle crowds, especially since the death of that security guy last year in WM. I predict many retailers will come up with a safer way to conduct business.
