DSL - AT&T sucks ... any cheaper recommendations? Archived From: Computers

I hate how AT&T raised their DSL prices on us ... does anyone know of a cheaper DSL provider? Thanks!

Broadband availability, speed, and pricing is geography specific. You will get better answer if you post what speed you currently have, the price and where you are located

Any particular reason you're limited to DSL?

These are the options I'm aware of, ranked by value for the money:


  1. the neighbors wifi (legally)
  2. WISP (search www.wispdirectory.com)
  3. DSL (if there are 5+ competitive ISPs to choose from, or dslextreme.com will serve you for $15/mo, or if www.speakeasy.net is one of the choices)
  4. ISDN (if it's < $50)
  5. DSL (if the local DSL market is monopolized by just a few companies)
  6. EVDO (from www.millenicom.com; no contract for $50)
  7. Fiber (FiOS)
  8. Cable
  9. ISDN (if it's > $50)
  10. EVDO or 1xRTT (under contract)
  11. Satellite
  12. Analog dialup ($5/mo from www.VTISP.com)
  13. Analog cellular
