I am putting together a computer and the case has a 1394 connector, the mobo has usb slots/pins but the manual says not to connect the 1394 to usb pins?? I don't see any other place to connect. Any idea, can I use the usb1 for the usb pin and usb2 for 1394 pin?
Thanks

If your motherboard does not have onboard 1394 (and it appears that yours does not), then you either don't connect the 1394 or you buy a PCI/PCI(e) card that has 1394.

You should not connect 1394 to the onboard USB.

G31 = Low End Intel Chipset
S2 = Low End Gigabyte product

No Firewire for you!

For Gigabyte you need the DS4 or DQ6 family to get good stuff like Firewire if I remember right.

And yes, Firewire (1394) is NOT the same as USB, so do not hook that connector up to your USB Headers. You stand a good chance at frying the USB Circuits on your motherboard if you do it.
