They will unlock your acct. when you give them your social security number. I had the same thing happen last year but it was unlocked after I gave them my social security number.

Are your winnings more than $200.00? If your winnings amount to more than that, then yes, they have to report it to the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board as 'earnings' It is the same when you win big at the Casinos. Uncle Sam ALWAYS wants his hand in our wallets!☺
Wow I need to stop buying stupid movie passes just because they're up! I would buy them even if I was unsure if I could go or not (the ones that stay up for hours) because its totally not worth having them report it to the IRS

hehasagun said: Oooh, is that a fact? I thought the minimum is $1K. Nope, it has been $600 for a very long time. In fact, if you pay someone (a gardener, a nanny, etc.) $600 or more, you are required to file a 1099-MISC. (There are penalties for failing to do so!)
By the way, I am glad to hear that they don't assess any value to those movie passes. Clear Channel used to assess them at a full movie ticket price of $10 or so (maybe they still do, but I don't participate over there anymore). I would adjust the value to zero, because those passes have no value: You have to show up hours in advance, and there's no guarantee that you will see the movie anyway!

Yes, that's still true, according to my neighbors who claim all their losses, but carefully cash out if their winnings approach the $1200 limit. And the casinos only track individual winnings -- not winnings over the course of a year.
I wonder who got paid how much to enshrine that little goodie into the tax laws.

I wonder who got paid how much to enshrine that little goodie into the tax laws. Dunno, but it's helped me out a time or two. Still $600 if it's a drawing or doorprize, though.

Does anyone out there keep track of the "usual" times for rewards to come up? You can look back in the thread's history to see when stuff goes up. Its pretty random. The only people that would know for sure work for Jack and Im pretty sure they won't tell us.
Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon only has months to live due to colon cancer, he is spending his last days giving his fortune away to the homeless and to save dogs at kill shelters. My heart is breaking. My prayers go out to him and his loved ones as he is my HERO.
im sorry, in my dismay, I didn't mean to post this here.
