I stopped doing the wishlist after the second (or third?) time around when their servers were perpetually jammed and apparently some butthead with a server farm brute forced his way into a prize (at least that's what I heard). Have they fixed this so that the contest is actually accessible to people with one computer and without 45 minutes to sit around pressing F5 or is this going to be "battle of the stay-at-home-moms-with-eBay-businesses" again? |

How does this work? I looked at the mywishlist website. Is it just a matter of being quickest on the click and then quickest in entering your AMEX card number? I have never done this before as I am new AMEX cardholder. |

It's not the stay at home moms you should be afraid of, it's the Computer Science majors with nothing better to do Does anyone remember the Amazon WC not being announced early on, but then revealed later in past contests? I never really browsed forums before it started. |

klozoff said:More likely Amazon decided not to participate this time, I'm sure AMEX would love to have them but it's up to Amazon. They've been getting tighter with pricing and probably don't want to give the discount, despite participating for like 3 years now. Do you really think Amazon gave the 25% alone? Don't think so. Maybe they asked for more from AMEX this time that AMEX refused, but I highly doubt it's Amazon's choice not to participate if they really don't. AMEX is the puppeteer here not the "participant" merchants. |

Don't forget Amazon has its own contest in November/December from last year... They don't need AMEX to prompt their sales anymore... A big Booo for us... |

Why would AMEX not want Amazon back, I doubt AMEX pays the merchants to participate, not with the exposure they get. Plus there's a link for merchants to submit prizes/packages for consideration for a future wishlist, in between the promos. It's definitely up to the merchants to participate or not. |

montreid said: They clarified the promotional period to a 5 minute window with a 'timed' release of the product, so that's an interesting twist. The 'unlock' looks like it's here to stay and they're satisfied with the results on prize integrity vs the previous revisions on keeping the hackers out.
I'm still pretty sure us FWers and SDers alike will take the lion's share home because we're so darn persistent folk, not hackers. IMHO, they've done an excellent job finally getting to the point of making this a bit more fair for all of those that are as persistent as we are. We always said the mass release of products at the top of the hour was a poor idea. The unlock was brilliant as well, and was something that someone also mentioned long ago. |

I think by the sounds of it, you'd be better off avoiding this. In fact, I'd go so far to guess that you may not even be in the demographics that they seek. |

I think Chariot meant the Amazon Christmas promo, not the Amazon WCs. Amazon was great. Many of us loaded up on free stuff, like a bike, a huge tent, cordless drill, and an elliptical machine. Won't be as sweet this year if there are no WCs. They also had drawings for Wii and PS3s for full price, I scored one of each. |

I really doubt TRU or Amazon will show up if they're not in the terms yet. But at least the Best Buy seems to be valid on computers this time. It might make a great deal on a laptop. But I find it weird that the terms of the BB WC says "This Wish Certificate need not be presented at the time of purchase." Does that mean we just tell them about it? It will also be interesting to see what HP offers. |

No need to present anything at time of purchase, because nothing happens at time of purchase. The BB WC is essentially a mail-in rebate this year. You make your purchase, submit the WC by mail, and they send you back a gift card. |
