I ordered the Droid 2 global from CowBoom a few days back, but got a A956 (global version). I wanted to use the phone on page plus network, now I am confused what should i do?
1. The invoice says A955 but phone got it 956, will that mean no warranty? I thought new phone should carry full warranty 2. A956 requires subsidy code when using it on international bands. Will verizon provide me same without signing up for their service?
Should I keep the global version with possibly no warranty and no unlock code or try to get correct A955 model?

Called motorolla, they say warranty expires Jan 26 as per original purchaser. So this phone is probably not new. Manufactured in 11/2010. Will be returning it. As per CowBoom, new is - "Factory sealed". Which would mean no previous sale and warranty registration. They do not know much about their own criteria looks like.

I also ordered a Droid 2 from CowBoom on the $150 deal of the day deal on Jan 5. I also got a Droid 2 Global.
Mine looks new -at least it has plastic on it - I haven't taken the plastic off until I decide what to do. I'm also planning on using it on Page Plus. I don't know about the code issue - will that cause any problems using it on Page Plus?
So other than the question about whether it is a new phone and whether the warranty is valid, is getting the global an upgrade or a downgrade?

Well mine had plastic on it too. Manufacture date is on the box where serial no etc is there in tiny letters. Should give you clue. Warranty will not be there, otherwise you many not have an issue. Global is an upgrade. Code is not an issue till you travel international. But you cannot use it on ATT/T-Mobile GSM in US, there is no unlock for that currently. If you are not concerned about warranty or bought warranty from CowBoom then by all means keep the phone. For me $150 was not small amount, so I needed warranty. If CowBoom invoice says A956, then I will still take a chance, but if it says A955, then warranty will surely not be honored by motorolla.

Verizon was selling the droid2 global a we months after the original came out. In act, if you replaced it under warranty you would get a global. Should be ok with pagepus...

Yes agreed, but that would be with verizon and they will honor the warranty. All I want is for invoice to say exactly what I was sold.

Of course you should get what you ordered. I appreciate you posting the info and others posting what they know about the issue. It helps me decide whether I should keep it or return it. From what I can tell so far, there should be no problem with using the Droid 2 Global on Page Plus. The main downside versus the Droid 2 is lower battery life. But there may be an upside - the resale value of the Global may be higher, which is important to me because I'll probably replace it within a year. So I think that I will keep mine - or at least I'll unpack it and try it out. I haven't checked on the warranty, but I'll do that after I've tested it out and then decide what to do. The date on my box is 11/2010. That doesn't bother me - I had assumed that it would be old stock. If it has been registered before as your was, then that is different, but I figure I will be able to decide then whether to keep it or not.
Please let us know what happens when you contact CowBoom. I'm guessing that they won't be able to offer a regular Droid 2 as a replacement - if they had them, they probably would have shipped them originally.

Same here: I ordered a new Droid 2 (A955) from Cowb00m but received a Droid 2 Global (A956). I called Motorola to check the warranty: they said the phone is new, never registered, but they won't honor the warranty without a correct receipt. Cowb00m CSR says they will not issue a corrected receipt; the only thing they will do is RMA the A956, but they can't guarantee they will have a new A955, and they will not cross ship.

At least you got a never registered phone. But seriously, why can't CowBoom issue correct receipt?
I returned it. Will get a used droid incredible instead with warranty. Will probably save me 100 bucks. So I am ok.
