still hovering near $4.00 in Connecticut

CT has some of the highest gas prices on the East Coast. When traveling long distance by car, I always make sure I have enough gas to make it to Mass northbound or NJ southbound to fill up there.

The cheapest in North East NJ is $3.35.

Last time I've checked (last night) 87 regular at a Total (tends to be one of the more expensive brannds of gas here, BTW...) station in my 'hood was $0.857/liter ($3.257/gallon), so today some independent (no-brand) stations might have dropped to $0.837/liter ($3.181/gallon)...

But still, based on the real cost of refining gas (and real demand shifts) + reasonable profit + no "speculation profit" regular gas should've been priced here in PR slightly above $0.60/liter ($2.36/gallon) or slightly above $0.65/liter ($2.55/gallon) as the US average...

Careful people the, $84/b price is for "paper" barrels not a cash price. Cash price is $86.53 at Cushing. http://www.wtrg.com/daily/oilandgasspot.html You have a similar disconnect going the other way on natural gas at Henry. Option price is $2.42/mmbtu and cash price is $2.33. Less than 10% of futures contracts turn into "wet" barrels for any given month. Futures markets are more akin to playing dice with someone who has loaded them.

The number you want to focus on is RBOB(summer blend with a much lower Reid Vapor pressure much more expensive to refine) which is the feedstock without ethanol and state and federal taxes. That is $2.87 in NY Harbor. So for SC you would back out about 1/3 of the pipeline tariff for Colonial Pipe Line to get the cost from the gulf coast refineries to your market. Ethanol is $2.40 FOB Nebraska. You will likely have significant rail freight to SC. Puerto Rico you are going to be using imported oil which is $104/barrel. Use international prices since the way pipelines are currently configured there is no way to move WTI from Cushing to the Gulf Coast for transhipment to Puerto Rico. Your refineries run Isthmus crude from Mexico usually. Don't think they can crack Maya.

Add state and federal taxes per gallon to get cost to. the distributor; subtract that from the pump price to get the combined spread for the distributor and retail markets. $4 in Connecticut all I can say is that there is either state taxes that are very high or incredible market discipline.

Still $4.00 a gallon in Reno, NV.

Save up for a cheap hybrid Honda and Toyota in the future.

Guess i'll drive down from NJ...

still tree fitty....

Then you have to live in SC.

Paid 3.63 this morning in Scottsdale, AZ....home of more Escalades with two sets of golf clubs in them per square mile than any place on Earth.

$3.89 in NY. Hasn't moved for about 3 weeks now.

$4.25 and still going up in Portland metro.

4.28 in Port Angeles, WA. I was down in south Georgia/north Florida last month and it got down to 3.71 while I was there. I thought gas would be less here than when I left but not even.

No it's not. You get a better deal when gas goes higher. When gas is low everyone tries to buy one and push the prices higher.

New Braunfels Tx $3.08 reg $3.20 mid, $3.35 premium $3.32 road Diesel. Buc-ee's new store opening

What the hell does that have to do with the price of tea in China (or the price of gas in South Carolina)?

$4.39 in Honolulu

I think he meant no job, no money, therefore no vehicles or vacations, so no need to buy gas. No demand, means prices go down.

If you have no money you get no tea, and have a sad face.

What I want to know is why gas in HI and the Seattle area is about the same price. We don't have to ship over water to get our gas.

Election year's politics, no signs of economic improvement so at least lets reduce the gas prices to make people happy and get their votes...........

For "nsdp"...

Believe it or not, ~ 1/2 of Puerto Rico's gasoline supply is NOT from the US Gulf Coast, even though our supply prices are based on that of the USGC. It's from Venezuelan oil (yes, its' got greasy Dictator Chavez's fingerprints all over it...) that has been refined in route (Aruba/ABC's, Barbados, Trinidad or St. Croix, if it's still working), so no ethanol or that other stuff. That's why when the hurricanes affected the supply on the USGC (to the point of having no gasoline for stations in cities like Atlanta or Miami) Puerto Rico was less affected (the USGC has only 1 supply route, Puerto Rico has 2).

Pretty consistently for the last 5-7 years the average price of all comparable (by grade, type of location and brand segmentation) fuel grades in Puerto Rico has been ~ $0.07/liter ($0.23/gallon) below that of Dade County (Miami), FL...

"What I want to know is why gas in HI and the Seattle area is about the same price. We don't have to ship over water to get our gas."

Hmmm... If the supply is from AK it has to be shipped by boat (BC stands between 'em) and if it is from elsewhere is US, WA most probably the "end of the line" of the supply from expensive CA, like Miami, FL is from Houston, TX, hence the extra expense...

Nor / California Costco Today Reg. $3.99 Gal....

Here's your answer. A refinery shut down for maintenance and another one that had a fire.

I topped off Wednesday afternoon at $3.38 and today it's town to $3.20. I talked with a friend this evening who said the price dropped in one move yesterday afternoon.

Nope, it's worse. $4.28 last I looked at Arco cash price in Los Angeles.

No votes here in SC. Jobs here are plentiful. BMW,Michelin,New Amazon going up,Td Bank,ICAR all hiring. The unemployment we do have here are drop-outs,druggies, criminal record breakers and those waiting for handouts

Reno dropped down to $3.91.

At least it went down a little.

$4.20 arco los angeles. not fair, should be around $3.60 with current oil price

Diesel still isn't moving, it didn't drop the last time gas dropped either.

~$4.25 in the Bay Area.

When I mean "cash discount", which we pretty much understand is a slightly disguised credit/debit premium is for fuel retail prices, which is what this discussion was originally about, not wholesale fuel or crude oil pricing...

In the discussion the supply flow and the wholesale and crude oil pricing levels can give tendencies of how the retail pricing could (but not always) do...
