So i have landline with at&t dsl elite (6mpbs down, 756kbps up). I called today and threaten to cancel and got the retention. I got two offers which are both horrible: 10 dollars off 48 dollars(6mpbs) for 6months or 15 dollars off for a year(but with termination free). So respectively, 38 dollars and 33 dollars. My previous promotion was 50% off-somehow came to be 23 dollars per month. I already tried several time calling retention but at&t would not budge and give me a good deal.
I see that DSL extreme has 20 dollar per months for 12 months, but i see the really horrible review on yelp and from other threads on fatwallet.
Did anyone got a good deal from at&t dsl recently?
update: so the customer service offer me a 15 dollar discounts good for 1 year. So it is originally 43.00 dollars - 15 dollars= 28 dollars per month for 6 Mbps downstream and i must keep this for 1 year period. However,i must keep the landline -. Should i bite?
When i checked to see if DSL is present at my address or my neighbors address it should that dsl is not "yet" present(even though i have dsl at the moment). I am guessing At&t is trying to move everyone to U-verse.
When i ask for U-Verse at&t the best i can do is get 25.00 dollars/month for 6mpbs downstream but i will have to pay the 100 dollars for Modem and they will "waive" my activation fee.

I called and was offered $25.99 for 6 megs. My place only qualifies for 3 megs, so I got that extended another 6 mo's for 19.95. Its silly the cable company here (Time Warner) has a 3 meg line for $19.95 also...but cable is a shared service and ten years ago when a cable representative told me "we have no competitors" when I asked why they wouldn't allow me to use my own cable modem when their competitors did, I swore I would never ever purchase another cable prodcut ever, here I am 10 years and Directv and DSL later and they've never had me back.

DSL Extreme has a very good reputation - first I have heard of legitimate bad reviews. They resell service from local cable and telco providers, so many performance issues are beyond their control. I would go woth DSL Extreme, but ATT prevents them from selling naked DSL in my area.
I was an early adopter of DSL, recently changed to Uverse when it became available in my neighborhood, as my DSL service is maxed out at 3 megs, promotional rates have dried up. I am currently on a 1 year, $29 per month promotion for 6 megs.
Why do you still have a landline? Switching to VoIP will save lots of money, or simply go wireless.

at&t refused to sell dsl promotional rate without landline. Now, since i can;t get any good promotion with landline, i'll switch to Uverse. Thanks for info.

Did you tell the reps that you also wanted to cancel your landline service? If you switch to metered rate service, sometimes it is cheaper to keep the landline for a promo.
You can always cancel the landline service later.

Did anyone do better? I was able to get 6mbps U-verse for $29 per month, no landline. Check the ATT website - online deals are generally the best (better than what CSRs can offer).
If you read the last set of T and C's from ATT DSL, there is language that they reserve the rght to switch you from DSL to U-verse, at THEIR discretion. In other words, it will happen eventually, best to do it when you are ready, with the most favorable terms.
