Lost my cell phone. Any ideas of where I can find the cheapest replacement Verizon phone? Needs to be something that does not require a data plan (just talk and text). Thanks!

CowBoom.com has pre-owned verizon phones.

+1 for CowBoom

just take one out of the recycle phone box at a local store (that was a joke)

I got a verizon phone for $10 at Bestbuy last week and it included a $10 credit.

Saw one at Sam's Club this morning for $.96

CowBoom sent me a phone that I could not activate since it was reported stolen. Easy return and the phone was in awesome shape for 100. (Nexus s)
Gazelle. Great company but like CowBoom you need to keep checking for good price and phone quality.

I had great luck with a old but goo HTC Inc from

I saw that deal posted here. Wasn't that a pre-paid phone? To my knowledge, you can't activate it on a contract plan.

A belated welcome "New Member".
A nicely spirited FW community message.
FYI, in case you didn't know: You can use the "Private Message" feature at FW if you want to communicate with another member but don't want to post what may be a "regular" e-mail address to all the web.

-1 for people who don't read. CowBoom doesn't have anything that doesn't require a data plan.

cant use a prepaid phone as a replacement?

eBay is the best place to look at.

The term for this "nonsense" is oligopoly!

You can't use a prepaid as a replacement. eBay is your best bet, with CowBoom a close second choice.

And if you buy a phone from eBay, and it happens to have originally been a prepaid phone, you will not be able to use it after you buy it. But then all eBay sellers always tell the truth, right.

This is another reason to give a second thought when choosing a cellular service. I guess maybe it is their way of pushing customers into buying phone insurance.

Even a third thought. The odds are stacked against the consumer.

I know Gazelle.com buys electronics, but not sure if you can buy from them. May be worth checking into.

How has no one mentioned craigslist yet?

you can find a phone today, call them today, meet them at a verizon store today, and verify it will activate before you pay them today.

I dislike CDMA phones because if the EMEI is bad, the phone is worthless. only way to check is to call verizon to activate it.

better to do that in person at a store than to wait for a phone to ship, find out it is bad, then have to deal with a shipping return.

or even ask a friend that has verizon, they may have an old phone laying around.

You could always see if you have an upgrade coming up. Sometimes they'll let you renew early...it's hit or miss though, I had a friend who had been with Verizon for a few years and they were awesome to him, other people have said Verizon is a pain to deal with...YMMV.
