Best online store for buying washer / dryer?

I want to buy a washer and a dryer online. Which store can handle the delivery and the installation appointment online? The reason I ask is I'm relocating to a new state in 2 weeks. I want to place the order in my current state so they will be ready for delivery and installation when I arrive at my new location. AFAIK, Home Depot online can't handle the installation appointment online and I hate to deal with their phone monkey CSRs who don't know anything about selling major appliances. Any suggestion? Thanks!

DonC said nothing of the sort. Better check above before you misquote what I actually said.

AJMadison in NYC did for me a couple of years ago. I was barely close enough to San Antonio to get it done.

It be interesting to hear if there is a good store online for it. But usually shipping kills the deal with appliances. Lowes typically ships out of their store so you may want to figure out the closest store and order it directly from them. I think Sears ships it from a warehouse so you can go to any Sears store. Can't remember about Home Depot, but since they match Lowes and vice versa, I've typically gone with Lowes because I can give them the 10% off mover coupon code (at post office) over the phone and they can deliver the next day if it's in stock. Online still has a way to go with appliances, I suggest just using the phone and calling the local store. You could check Best Buy too, sometimes they have good prices on clearance items, same with the other stores too, but they don't always list them on their website.

I got my washer and dryer from best buy- got it on sale, actually a real killer deal. They delivered and installed it- I think I did it all online (setup delivery/installation too- I vaguely remember some calender app where I could pick the date) and never talked to anyone on the phone. I have bought a refrigerator from some online appliance dealer like US appliance and would NOT use a company like that for delivery/setup.

Yeah I just checked online and it appears their delivery (scheduled online) does cover most basic installation (electric washer and dryer should be covered)

Per their website, Costco says that installation and haul away is included in their delivery of W/D sets.

I ordered an oven online from Sears and it was delivered and installed no problem. Good thing is their 30 day price guarantee - if Sears lowers the price they will credit you the difference.

From personal experience, Best Buy can handle the ordering, scheduling, etc., all online. I got an LG pair about a year ago, and was able to schedule it about 3 weeks in advance (when I would be off work). They offered haul-away, too in the price, but I sold it on Craigslist. Install included, including new hoses (some charge separately).

In contrast, a few years back, I ordered a dishwasher from Sears, and scheduled installation, etc., online. Come the day of the scheduled install, they call me. Great, I think, they're confirming delivery. Nope, it was automated message telling me they no longer carried my DW, and that my order was cancelled! To add insult to injury, I eventually had to call back twice, because they never took the charge off of my CC. Oh, and I kept receiving letters and emails about my "new DW", and didn't I want to buy an extended service plan?

I recommend www.homeclick.com. Ordered a nice dishwasher from them about 3 years ago. Free shipping - and they handily beat the local prices in HD / Lowes...
I believe at that time, there was Bing CashBack too...you might be able to get some other similar CashBack...

After I ordered from Home Depot, someone called me to set up an appointment. Sorry I can't remember the details as it's been about a year. Doesn't look exactly what you're looking for, but should still work if you want it too, and might be worth it if their prices are good enough. In my case free delivery and setup was included.

I wouldn't move mine either. Washers / Dryers hold their value so well I'd sell mine and look for a deal here.

AJ Madison NY is a good option. The offer free shipping and have good customer service. I bought tons of appliances from them and they also did a free exchange for a refrigerator while Samsung the manufacturer really sucked big time in their customer service. One piece of uncalled for advise,. Stay from Samsung appliances, they produce crap and their customer service is crappier

i got some good deal at Home Depot with 10% CashBack from shopdiscover and a coupon code .

Definitely Sears especially if you know specifically what you want. They usually have a significant volumes of deals, discontinued models, etc. As an example, my wife doesn't like self-cleaning ranges but they're hard to find in B&M. Nice thing is she found it and got a great deal 'cus supposedly everyone want self-cleaning. We've moved twice in the last 6 years and had to upgrade each time. We did buy some at Lowes but Sears had a much greater selection by far.

here's one data point only - i'm having a terrible experience with Sears right now. i ordered 5 appliances memorial day weekend, the soonest they could deliver was 6/16. they called me the day before to let me know the fridge would be delayed. "manufacturer delay." they came by saturday and dropped off a hose for the fridge. upon calling i received the following 4 scripted responses.
- "your 4 appliances have been delivered." uh..... no.
- "oh, ok. its a manufacturer delay." uh.. there's two makes. both manufacturers are delayed?
- "oh, no. you actually called on thursday, which counted as an inquiry which automatically delayed your delivery. we have to reschedule." uh... i called returning the message you left me. bs.
- "ok, ok. sorry, there's nothing i can do."

speaking of which.... anyone know how to elevate my complaint? the csr refused to transfer me to a manager. i've never been treated so poorly by customer service.

Sears (for me) = good prices on appliances they will never deliver. i moved into my new house 6/16, and i have no appliances. i'd avoid them like the plague.

It's too bad, I used to get all my appliances from them, they used to have really good sales and the friends and family pre black friday sale used to be the best. However now they don't always offer free shipping so even though they might have a good price, shipping kills the deal as they say. At least Home Depot and Lowes still have free shipping, plus there's always that 10% mover coupon which on average makes it a little cheaper than Best Buy unless they're having a good sale or clearance. Mine are usually for rentals so I'm not that picky about what they have in stock, I just get whatever's in stock and Lowes has been really good of late delivering the next day.

If you are not looking for white glove service and know how to install basic appliances (water & drain pipe connections, 220v receptacles) you can save yourself a TON of money by using USAppliance.com. Free shipping on items over $1000 and no tax (unless you live in WI). Please remember this is free shipping not delivery, so you are responsible for unpacking the appliance, removal of the old appliance, and installing the new appliance. Also this will likely take several weeks to get your appliance as it will be shipped freight.

When I purchase my LG steam washer I saved about $400 over retail and another $200 in tax and shipping/delivery charges.

I guess it depends on what you buy. I just checked a few small items like dishwashers, refrigerators, ranges and Lowes was within $10 plus or minus from their price. Plus if you take an extra 10% off, it works out that Lowes is at least $30-$50 cheaper plus their delivery is the next day if it's in the stock and they take it all out of the box and take away your old one for free. Plus you know how Sears has an outlet store that sells scratch and dent item? Well that's what happens sometimes when things are delivered. When you get it from a local store, you can just send it back and get another one quickly. If you're waiting weeks for an appliance, how long is it going to take to get a replacement? Oh you can also try the local Sears outlet store, they're somewhat hit or miss, mostly miss. I think they take between 30-40% off, however whenever they have a sale, it's typically in the 20-30% off range so you're saving roughly 10% and depending on the damage I'm not sure it's really worth it. Plus they don't do free delivery so unless it's a high ticket item, might not be worth it.

We just bought another home last fall and wife was VERY specific what appliances she wanted for it. As it was in another state, I ended up using the on-line orders and deliveries scheduled from several places:
Lowes - Convection oven & front load W & D
Home Depot - Maytag Refrigerator
Best Buy - dishwasher

You can find nearly any model you want on-line, and in spite of what I had fears of happening, all of the places came through as promised, delivered and hooked up all appliances.
