I understand there are reasons this should not be done just for fun since there are many ways you could end up being stuck with the car, but its good to have the option to return it.

Does anyone see any pitfalls here if you were not sure and don't mind being stuck with the car if you decide to keep it. Not sure what the miscellaneous costs that would not be refunded amount to and what happens to gm rewards if you use for the purchase. No clear answer on the latter.

Assuming that you:
1) Don't drive more than 4000 miles
2) Don't have more than $300 in damaage or repairs (even if you paid for it).

I think that the biggest issue will be that you have to register the car with your state. In my state, you have to pay not only the registration fee but also the tax - and that is a whole lot. 6% tax on a $25k car is $1,500. I doubt that you would get that back...

I believe they refund the state tax from reading the terms. just not registration fees and some doc fee (~100)

In exchange for the vehicle, the customer will receive the vehicle purchase price after any rebates, discounts, plus genuine Chevy Accessories installed on the vehicle prior to delivery and included in the original vehicle purchase and any applicable sales tax they paid. Only the price of the vehicle itself (plus sales tax) is included. The buyback offer does not include a return of monies paid for any other taxes, licensing, titling or registration fees, insurance, non-GM Accessories, dealer fees, extended warranties, finance charges, negative equity or any other expenses incurred by the customer at the time of taking delivery of the new vehicle.

I think I'll Pass....

I think when offered either an additional $500 off -OR- the 60 day return policy, most people would take the $500 rebate.

LOL

I think this is great, if you do not like the car just return it. If this would have been from toyota my prius would have been back on the lot 3 days after I bought it.

Saturn had something like this before. Didnt work for them either because next day/week/month ppl see that now the same car as theirs is marked down even more. So they drive up to the dealer and say split the extra 1k off 50/50 or ill return the car.
Vicious circle ...

Care to elaborate more? Whats wrong with prius?

Why wouldnt you get the tax back, if you go to WalMart and you buy a jacket or toy and then you return it they do give you the tax back, am I right or wrong?
Sorry for the run on sentence

My prius has given us a lot of problems since I bought it but within the first 3 days I could not stand how the car acted. When I am parked and I start the car after about a minute the engine starts and when it does the car literally lurches forward 2-3 inches( remember I am still parked). The dealership said this normal if you do not leave your foot on the brake. also when the engine turns off it shakes the whole car, again the dealership says thats normal. Yes I took it to another dealership and they said the same thing, ITS NORMAL.
I m not here to bash the prius but thats just what happened during the first 3 days.

this is BS... no way the car acts like it!!

dlee do you have a prius? or are you one of those perfect people who never have problems with cars?
So if you dont own a prius or you have one that does not have this problem then SHUT UP! SIMPLE

Our 2012 Prius does not do those things. YMMV.

on a malibu you would be out about ~$300 in miscellaneous fees that you won't get .. this is from a dealer

My girlfriend does have a thing for Corvettes... a 60 day "free trial" of a ZR1 would be nice. I noticed Chevy is offering 0.9% financing on the Vette right now too. hmmm.... I need to figure the out the door cost after all said and done. I wonder how feasible renting it out for a few days would be. This company rents out Vettes for $350 a day, 100 mile allowance.

On second though, my local chevy dealer probably already hates my guts. I only go there to get free stuff. If I returned a ZR1 with bald tires for a full refund, I just might make the manager's hit list.

Use this and get a Volt free(OK $300 say) for 60 days. Nobody will question you bringing it back.
