PayPal is getting competitive for the holidays. The payment service will refund customers up to $1000 if they find that an item purchased through PayPal is advertised for cheaper elsewhere during the holiday season.
From today through Dec. 31, PayPal will price match your purchases with a limit of $250 on a single item. "If the item you purchase is advertised for lower with any merchant within 30 days of purchase, you can receive a reimbursement for the difference," Lombana writes. "It doesn't matter if you bought the item online, in a store or a new item from eBay's Top-rated sellers using "Buy It Now". And get this - even airline tickets from the same carrier that drop in price within seven days of your purchase are eligible for price match."
The company will also pay for return shipping, limited to $100 total and $25 per eligible item, and offers six-month special financing on purchases of $99 or more (pending credit approval).
However, the fine print... "The Price Match benefit does not apply to advertisements for close-out sales, flea markets, fire sales, cash-only sales, limited quantity promotions, liquidation sales, going-out-of-business sales, seasonal sales, door busters, Auctions, and sales valid for less than one day."
Forget about price matching Thanksgiving, Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals.

Thanks. Those were exactly the exclusions I was about to look for....

No need to read the post if it says paypal promotion. Paypal and promotion dont go together.
To me, using PayPal is never worth it except for very small eBay transactions. It's just not worth giving up AMEX's chargeback option. Merchant screwed you? You get your money back.

Can't you charge it on your AMEX from Paypal and still have the possibility of chargeback through AMEX for that transaction?

PayPal and promotion...... hah, thought I'd try that one out with a purchase of shoes from 6pm for my son.
I submitted my request 11/12 for return shipping, and nada! Tried email, not resolved. Called, and 38 minutes later MAYBE an answer.
Buyer beware. First line PayPal support knows nothing about this, now 23 days old, promotion. I was transferred to an english as a first language support who had to find the email describing the program.
PayPal is not administering this program, but rather a third-party vendor, and Mr. PayPal who spoke english told me it could be up to 30 days before I got my return label. Tell that to 6pm...
Thankfully, while I was waiting, I doubled checked the links listed by the fathwalleters, and found in 2 places the stated 5 day response policy.
Not sure if the work-around for my situation will work, but I will be printing my own label which they will cover the postage. SO hopeful.

I submitted a price match claim for the Nexus 7 and received an email that the claim was approved - that I would receive the reimbursement in 1-2 business days. However, this was back in Dec. 20, 2012, and I still haven't received it yet. I've sent a follow up email on Dec. 27, 2012 and received no reply. So I called them this morning...and the customer service rep was not helpful. Bottom line is they will look into it and told me to wait another 1-2 business days for them to resolve this.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems with their price match request.
