CBBW said: I think the problem with sagging could only be with the support underneath. I guarantee you that's not it. Like I said earlier, the Sensus was great until it wasn't. Now lying anywhere except the edges of the topper provides no support at all. In the past I could put the Sensus on the floor if I wanted because I could never sink through it (I own the 4"). After you've hit the five year mark on your Sensus I'll be curious to see if you change your tune. I'm probably going with Suckis's suggestion of getting something from Wal-Mart. The main problem is the descriptions I see online are hardly descriptive. None talk about ILD and few are clear about actual cubic foot density. I hope their customer reviews aren't rigged since that's about all I have to go on. |

Seems that half the specs of the ones people are buying on eBay and websites are fake anyway Instead of worrying about specs , pick something with easy returnability if unsatisfied |

They operate and ship thru a company called: "Central Shipping, LLC." The Stewarts have another address for their "mawandpawbargains" at:
Wow, I almost bought from mawandpawbargains. They're still selling on eBay and they have a ton of positive feedback and almost no negatives. |

Looking to add a guest room bed, and with the success I had with this the first go around, I thought I might as well do it again. I may use this as an opportunity to upgrade layers in our bed, or all of it. Looking at email receipts this is what I put together roughly 2 years ago (layers in order top down): FoamByMail 2" Queen Memory Foam Mattress Pad 4LB viscoelastic 4.5 - $55 (Density: 4.5 lb/ft3 / ILD: 12 LBS) 3-inch Isoform Memory Foam Mattress Pad 5lb viscoelastic - $165.00 (http://www.isoform.com/3inchisoformmemoryfoammattresspad-p-43.html) FoamByMail Eggcrate 1-1/2" Queen 60x80 - LUX-HQ Foam - $39.99 (Density: 2.8 lb/ft3 ILD: 55 LBS) JCPenney 5" Thick Extra-firm Support Foam Topper- Queen, 60x80" - $90? There is also an eBay velour zipper cover and a matress pad on top. Don't know the specs on the Isoform, could be in this thread somewhere I suppose, I included the link. EDIT: Found someone in this thread mentioning it was 15 ILD. At this point in time, what's the consensus as far as something similar to this goes? Even if I have to spend around the $500 mark? Thanks guys! |

I (finally) was able to purchase thru Wal-Mart. Buying their items thru Paypal Checkout never worked, though. Ended up buying the 12" Spa Sensations Mattress. Weighs in at about 100 lbs. Super firm like your topper most likely. Back sleepers and heavy people should like it but I wouldn't recommend it to side sleepers or people who want a soft mattress. The new plastic smell lingers too, I've had mine for over two weeks and it still hasn't dissipated completely. Wish I knew the ILD ratings are, but they're not listed. I know it's 3" of 5lb density memory foam on top (and I believe it) with 9" of 1.8lb HD underneath, whatever that means. The best description is damn firm. |

I should have checked this thread earlier. I purchased this 12" memory foam mattress from All Sleep for $300. http://www.Amazon.com/Soft-Sleeper-Memory-Visco-Elastic/dp/B000S2E2ZO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top It has 2 foam bases and 1 memory foam topper. My initial thought was to use the foam base and replace the topper with a higher quality one, but I wanted to try it as a whole first. It was fine for 3 months, then the support fell out. I rotated it to get another 3 months. I wake up with back pains now. It's unclear whether it's the topper or the base that's sagging. I don't think just replacing the memory foam topper will fix it. The "10-year warranty" is crap. They make you pay 25% of your cost + 8% for every year you've had it. For me it would be $135 + shipping to get it replaced for having it 6-months (not sure how they came up with $135). Stay away from All Sleep and the Soft Sleeper beds. Seems like everyone is loving the 12" Spa Sensations through Wal-Mart. Will give it a shot next and report my findings. Thanks everyone for their input in this thread. |

Just remember, you better want a very firm mattress. If you're anywhere near SC I might even sell you mine for a deal. I'm starting to think it's too firm and I'd rather not go through the return hassles whatever they may be. |

After two months the mattress still had a horrible stink and was hard as a rock I ended up returning my WalMart mattress and settled on a Queen sized 9" mattress w/ 4" of 5.5lb memory foam for $520 through foambymail on eBay. You can also buy direct from their website but buying through eBay got me a paypal guarantee and a free terry cover and 2 ergonomic pillows. The chinese imports are just way too firm and have nothing resembling the comfort of Tempurpedic mattresses at all. When I first got the mattress I set it on top of my almost 20 year old boxsprings and it was sheer "sleep on a cloud" heaven. Then I started noticing my original problem of bowing to the center was returning. Darn it if the boxsprings weren't wore out in the center as well. I didn't want just the mattress on the frame so I put a sheet of 3/4" plywood in between. As a result the bed firmed up much much more, I dare say even more than I would have liked. It's strange that the difference can be so profound. I guess all I mean to say is the firmness of this bed is determined to a major extent on whether you use boxsprings or a platform. Anyway, the bed is much higher quality than the Spa Sensations 12" WalMart mattress (by miles). Foambymail 5.5lb has much more of that "sink in" feeling so your spine is aligned correctly. The people there were helpful too and quickly sent samples when I asked. The 5.5lb resembles the Sensus topper I used in the past too. The terry cover is meh because the zipper only covers a small part of the mattress and makes it impossible to remove. There were a ton of hanging threads I had to chop off too. I think if I had the choice I'd prefer to sleep directly on the mattress and not have the terry cover. Smell of the mattress went away in about three weeks (standard). Foambymail is not quite Tempurpedic but it's close enough, especially at 1/5th the price. Keep in mind they have a 30-day guarantee but it doesn't include shipping so you're spending $100 for delivery and whatever it costs to return if you don't like it. |

One last thing, don't believe the reviews on Wal-Mart. I wrote a negative but not unprofessional review of the 12" Spa Sensations mattress based on my experience with it. I even complimented Wal-Mart for allowing me to return it. Still the review never showed up while positive reviews continue to appear. Shady. |

As you probably know I already purchased #2 (stinks for months AND hard as a rock - hate it!) and #3 (I like it). I am not familiar with the #1 bed but personally I prefer mattresses with bare minimum 3" of memory foam (mine has 4" of 5.5lb foam as I am a 6'1" / 210lb guy). I only see 1 positive review but this mattress by the same maker seems to be getting good reviews. |

Actually I meant to buy the one you suggested - Sarah Peyton 10 inch Cool Sensations Memory Foam Mattress. I assumed inadvertently that Sarah Peyton 10-Inch Queen Memory Foam Mattress with 2 Contour Pillows is the same. It turn out they are not. The "Cool Sensations" one is stated to have (specs) - a) 2.5" 4lb "Cool Wave" Visco Memory Foam with Air Flow b) 3" 3lb Visco Memory Foam with air flow channels directing cool air throughout the mattress a) and b) above do add up to 5.5" so it should be fine. I am not sure if I understand all these specs but hopefully it will last 4-5 years. If anybody has any comments or experience with this mattress, I will love to hear from you. I am hoping to buy it soon. Thanks. |

so if you guru's were all about to build a new mattress today, what would you go for? I'm looking for a good base, wondering if I should go latex for that, and then a good thick density topper. 6'4" at 250lbs and I need something that won't turn into a sinkhole in a year. Not sure if I should pull the trigger on a Tempurpedic or not so I'm looking for options. From experiences I've read in this thread so far, many have seemed to run into more than a few shady dealers in regards to actually getting good quality or at least what they paid for. So hoping someone here has a list of exactly what they would buy if doing it right now. |
