I see that the resilitex 15=28 latex in support. Would you want to do sensus + 2" 15 resilitex + 3" 35 Latex + 3" 28 latex? If so, in your opinion, does having the 3" 28 latex at the bottom make any difference at all?

Why do you think that adding the resilitex in between will make the setup any different than having a 5" 28 ILD latex?

If I sleep on my side, sensus+28+35 is very comfortable. Sensus+35+28 is firmer because the firmer layer is closer to you, and the depth is still there for the body to sink in. However, with the latex layers I have, 3" Sensus is too soft for my back, when I sleep on my back. I'm planning to use the 2" Resilitex as the top layer and not use Sensus at all.

I bought a king size memory foam mattress on eBay with Complete Sleep Shop. I asked them not to glue, so they custom ordered and it took two more days for that. Also, they suggested that 3" may be a bit firm if you are a side sleeper, so they suggested for a 4" sensus foam. By the way, what I bought is not with latex base, it is 6" reflex core(ployurethane foam) base. I just recieved the package today, looks nice but didn't try yet.

I don't know if this helps, but I bought a memory foam pillow from Sams club for $26 and it is great. Not contoured at all. I bought a 2inch memory foam topper from them too for $128 for king size now I wonder if it was a deal.

I was at Value City Furniture looking checking the prices on their Simmons Exceptionales and noticed that they had a Memory Foam mattress for $799. The salesman said it was just like tempurpedic. I don't know, but it seemed comfortable to me. They only come in Q and K, maybe that was the K price too? Sorry, my details aren't as good. I think he said 5 Ibs.

Its their house brand. It seems to be about the same price as the others and you can walk in and check it out.

Its not on their web page, but there is a pdf add showing a sale price...

C3s package above is a lot better than the one that HEavenly foam offers and priced about the same. I belive that C# got it from Memoryfoam.com. You ge the best memoryfoam on the market, Senus made by Foamex, that is almost 5.3 lbs/cft, coupled with Talalay latex base - again the best latex that you can buy (I believe that the latex has a 20 yr warranty and the foam has 10). And of course you can choose the layers you want.

Hi. I am trying to find a memory foam topper to make our HARD bed more comfortable and eliminate back pain. Has anyone had experience with this site? Are their prices competitive? Thanks.

Just placed an order on Mark's website for a Queen Hemmingway mattress. Got a nice lill discount on it too.. It ended up costing the same price, if I had bought the materials separately from different sources.
Now, I gotta get a frame n a foundation.. Boy, this has ended up costing me quite a bit more than what I intended to spend. Hopefully, the mattress will be worth it !

What discount did you get on it?

I finally pulled the plug and got the Del Ray from marks eBay store.
saved about $200 over getting it from his site.
I got it with I got 3" sensus topper, 3" 28ild Talaly Latex core, 3" 35ild Talaly Latex core.
instead of the normal 2 3" 28ild cores. not sure if that was a good move or not. time will tell.
It will be here on thursday, same day my local shop is delivering and setting up my new king frame and foundation.

I just bought a simons sang II mattress from Dream City. My wife and I looked at many different brands and this was the closest to tempurpedic that we could find. As a matter of fact, the store we bought ity at had both and we could not tell them apart. Wse got the mattress for $879. Did not buy the box spring. There are a few Dream City mattress centers in upstate NY and they are having big sales. You can see the link for the mattress here.

Where is the Del Ray kit on his eBay store? I see it on his memoryfoam.com site, but on his eBay site he just has a lot of generic names.

Thanks

I have been in the market for a good mattress as well. I like a firm feeling mattress. I corresponded with the people at Mark's 1/2 price bedding and The Complete Sleep Shop, since those were the two eBay stores where I found the best deals. Here is what I found after reading several articles and getting some questions answered.

The PU foam is a cheaper base compared to the Latex foam and lasts about 5 years. The comfort life(duration during which it is comfortable) of it is even shorter. Latex is much more expensive but gives a more 'luxurious' feel. I was looking at Queen sized mattresses from both vendors. There was a 10" (4" 5lb Sensus + 6" latex, don't know if it is Talalay ) that I was bidding on. Buy it now was $549 and it got sold for $530. I stopped bidding because I got some more input at that time about the firmness. I was looking at the 7" kit from Mark's at the same time, which has 4" Sensus and 3" Talalay Latex. The firmness of the latex can be chosen so that the mattress is firm, but I don't like sinking into my mattress so I want the total deformation to be limited. I understand that the deformation per pound per square inch will be related to the density, but I would like the contouring effect upto a point, beyond which I would rather have more support. So I decided to go with the 7" kit instead. I am 165lbs and sleep on my back or stomach, and not so much on my side. When I emailed Mark's 1/2 price bedding, they told me that a 9" or 10" mattress would not really be good for a stomach sleeper because you don't want your stomach sinking in too much and straining your back.

As far as the kit Vs a laminated solution is concerned. The complete Sleep shop had $100 shipping which is justified if the whole thing comes in 1 piece. If the mattress lasts 10 or 20 years, I am quite certain that I will be moving before I throw it out, so I would rather have it in separate sheets so that I can transport it easily. I know that it is possible to customize the mattress this way, and I would suggest doing it, since it gives the option of transporting separately without loosing anything. Also the entire 10" thick queen mattress weighs 212lbs according to the complete sleep shop. I would not be able to carry that in one piece anyway. Mark's ships for $50 which is a lot less and gives you the convenience of separate layers. I think the different layers come rolled up so it is easier to ship, explaining the lower shipping cost.

Another piece of information is that the Complete Sleep shop provides a 10 year warranty above and beyond the Manufacturer's (Sensus) warranty, making it a total of 20 years.

So for me, I would say a 7" mattress is the way to go.
I would also go with latex as opposed to PU foam (Read Mark's description on any mattress).
I would also go for separate layers, which allows easy transportation and easy modification to your configuration.
I would put the whole thing on a sheet of plywood for better support.

I went to Mattress Giant and checked out the 8" Tempurpedic mattress. It was pretty supportive. The material is very dense. The sales person there said that they use between 3" and 4" of memory foam, and the rest is a PVC based foam. I am thinking that this is similar to PU foam. Nevertheless, they provide a 10 year warranty.

I also tried the regular style mattresses, and I like the simmons mattresses because of the individually pocketed coil system. This prevents transfer of motion from one part of the bed to another. So if you jump on one side, the other side is relatively stable. You can get simmons for under $500 at WalMart online. The thing you want to check with the mattress is the number of coils (more the better) and the coil guage ( higher numbers are thinner guage). I believe the ones in mattress giant are a little better than in WalMart.

I tried the contoured memory foam pillows as well at mattress giant. They are nice in that they don't let your head roll from a straight position, but they are quite dense and don't have a fluffy feel if you get one of the 5lb density ones. The 3lb density material was much more fluffy and more like a normal pillow. I have to still think about what kind of pillow I like better. The mattress giant salesperson also said that the latex foam pillows will break down faster than the memory foam pillows. I am not too sure about this, but in any case I was not interested in latex foam pillows. The best deal that I have found on the contoured memory foam pillows was from The Complete Sleep Shop for about $24-$29 a piece for queen(24") or king(28") size I think.

I hope this helps any mattress shoppers out there.

Its not listed as a Del Ray kit on his eBay store but if you look at the memoryfoam.com site it tells you what the del ray is. 3" of 5lbs sensus on top of (2) 3" layers of 28 ild talalay latex ( i had them switch one of the layers of latex to be 35 ild for a little more firmness.
